Konami and Bloober Team have announced that they are working on a remake of the first Silent Hill game. This was hinted at in Konami’s Press Start June 2025 event. So, let’s dive in.
At that event, Konami stated that they are working with Bloober Team on a new Silent Hill project. However, the official account of Silent Hill spilled the beans on X. As we can clearly see, this new Silent Hill game is basically a remake of the first Silent Hill.
As the official Silent Hill X account specifically said, Bloober Team is working on a remake of “SILENT HILL”, which was released on PlayStation in 1999.
So, there you have it, everyone. Right from the horse’s mouth. The new SH game from Bloober Team will be a remake of the first SH game.
Since SH2 Remake used Unreal Engine 5, we can safely assume that this one will also use it. After all, Bloober Team is using UE5 for its latest game too.
If Silent Hill 2 Remake is anything to go by, we should expect a faithful remake to the original game. In other words, the puzzles will remain the same. The story will also be similar to what players experienced back in 1999. The only major change will be in visuals and, perhaps, overall exploration.
Silent Hill 2 Remake was my GOTY 2024. So, I have high hopes for this new remake. Bloober Team knows what’s doing. They have proven themselves with SH2 Remake. So, yeah. I’m really looking forward to it.
I just hope that this game won’t suffer from all the stutters that plagued Silent Hill 2 Remake. While it wasn’t a complete mess, SH2 Remake had some awful stutters at the later levels. So, let’s hope that Bloober Team will use Unreal Engine 5.6, which aims to address a lot of these stutters.
There is currently no ETA for when this remake of Silent Hill will come out. My guess is that we’re looking at a 2028 game. After all, Konami announced SH2 Remake in 2022, and we got it in 2024. Since Bloober Team is now busy with Cronos, we can safely assume that this will be a late 2027 or a 2028 game. Or at least that’s my assumption.
