Square Enix has just announced that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be officially coming to PC on January 23rd. To celebrate this announcement, the publisher has shared its first PC trailer which you can find below.
FF7 Rebirth takes place after the events of FF7 Remake. As the game’s description reads.
“After a ferocious battle, Ex-SOLDIER Cloud Strife and his companions Tifa, Aerith, Barret and Red XIII escape the mako-powered city of Midgar to step out into the wide world. A journey across the planet begins as our heroes ride Chocobos across vast and trackless plains, visiting many familiar places in pursuit of the fallen hero Sephiroth, and the chase culminating in the party’s journey to “The Forgotten Capital” from the original FINAL FANTASY VII.
At the same time, SOLDIER 1st class Zack Fair drags his battered body across the wastelands leading into Midgar, supporting his dear friend who is delirious from severe mako poisoning. Beyond the boundary between life and death, he sees an ominous rift spreading across the heavens.”
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth had major performance issues on PS5. So, I’m curious to see how the game will perform on PC. Square Enix has not upgraded the version of the UE it used. This means that it’s still running on Unreal Engine 4, and not on Unreal Engine 5.
Let’s at least hope that there won’t be any shader compilation stutters this time around.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
