Tomb Raider 1 Classic feature

Fans have turned the classic Tomb Raider into a side-scroller

Now here is something truly amazing. Modders ‘Delca’ and ‘Trxye’ have turned the classic Tomb Raider game into a side-scroller. This is a real game, and the duo aims to release it for free in May 2026.

Going into more details, Tomb Raider: Side-Scroller Edition will allow you to experience the entire first Tomb Raider with a completely different perspective and gameplay.

Players will be able to run and explore the environments, swim, solve puzzles, and fight enemies. In total, the game will offer 11 levels that have been re-imagined.

To showcase what this project is all about, the duo released the following trailer. This trailer will give you an idea of what you can expect from it. So, be sure to watch it.

In my opinion, this is one of the best free fan games/mods I’ve seen. While it completely changes the way Tomb Raider plays and looks, it still feels like Tomb Raider. Delca and Trxye have done an incredible job here, and they deserve every bit of praise. This is why PC gaming is so cool.

I’ll be sure to share the download link for this fan game once it becomes available.

Tomb Raider fans can also try Tomb Raider Caves HD Remaster Project. This is a fan remake of the Caves map from the first game in the Tomb Raider 4 Engine.

We also have Tomb Raider The Dagger Of Xian. This is an amazing fan remake of the second Tomb Raider game in Unreal Engine 4. You can download its latest demo from here.

Finally, you can download a demo for the fan remake of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness in Unity Engine. This pre-alpha demo features only one level from Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. It also comes with proper gameplay mechanics, meaning that you can climb ladders, use a flashlight, explore the environment, and fight an enemy. It’s a pretty basic tech demo. Still, this is something that may interest some of our Tomb Raider fans.

Stay tuned for more!
