Revolution Software has announced Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, a faithful reimagining of the second Broken Sword game. To celebrate this announcement, the team shared a trailer that you can find below.
As the press release reads, this new edition follows the success of Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged in 2024. This game set a new standard for how to make point-and-clicks more accessible in the modern day. Or at least that’s what a lot of reviewers have claimed.
Charles Cecil, founder and CEO of Revolution Software, said:
“The Smoking Mirror has always been one of our most loved games, and with Reforged we were able to enhance it in ways that respect the original while making it shine for modern audiences. Just as with the first game, we can’t wait for players old and new to experience it again”.
Players will experience the game’s iconic locations, illustrated in beautiful high definition, coupled with crisp audio for the first time. They will also be able to switch between the original 1997 version of the game and the new reforged visuals at the click of a button. This will definitely please a lot of Broken Sword die-hard fans.
Moreover, you will be able to play the game the way that you want to. You will be able to choose between a ‘traditional mode’ for people who enjoy adventures the way they used to be, and a ‘story mode’ for those who want subtle hints to ensure they never get frustrated.
Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged is coming to PC in early 2026. Revolution Software will also launch a Kickstarter campaign for it soon.
Enjoy!
