AMD fans, get ready as the red team is about ready to launch its new RDNA4 GPUs. As its CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, said during a recent Q4 2024 earnings call, AMD plans to release the Radeon RX 9070 (and most likely the RX 9070XT too) in early March 2024.
As Dr. Lisa Su specifically said:
“In Gaming Graphics, revenue declined year-over-year, as we accelerated channel sellout in preparation for the launch of our next-gen Radeon 9000 series GPUs. Our focus with this generation is to address the highest volume portion of the enthusiast gaming market with our new RDNA 4 architecture. RDNA 4 delivers significantly better ray tracing performance and add support for AI-powered upscaling technology that will bring high-quality 4K gaming to mainstream players when the first Radeon 9070 series GPUs go on sale in early March.”
So there you have it everyone, straight from the horse’s mouth. The new RDNA4 GPUs will come out in early March. My guess is that we can expect them in the first week of March. Or at least that’s what makes sense to me.
A rumor suggests that we might see these new GPUs on March 6th. If this leak is legit, we will most likely get the reviews for them a week or a day before their release. I also expect some benchmarks to leak ahead of the reviews.
The AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070XT will compete with the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 5070 and RTX 5070Ti. So, it will be interesting to see how they will fare against them.
AMD also stated that its RDNA4 GPUs will have better RT performance. So, will AMD be able to compete with NVIDIA in ray-traced games? And what about Path Tracing?
It’s a shame AMD will not release a high-end model. I don’t know if anything has changed, but AMD’s strategy for its RDNA4 GPUs is to focus on the mid-tier category. So, I’m curious to see how the red team will price these GPUs.
In theory, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070XT should provide a better price/performance value than their NVIDIA rivals. After all, that’s the main reason why AMD delayed their announcement (and their reveal).
Stay tuned for more!
