Alan Wake 2 new feature

Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.3 million units, is Remedy’s fastest selling game to date

A lot of people believed that Alan Wake 2 was a commercial flop. That assumption was based on the fact that Remedy hadn’t revealed the game’s sales. Well, it appears that this is far from the truth. In fact, Alan Wake 2 is Remedy’s fastest selling game to date.

As Remedy revealed a couple of hours ago, the game has sold over 1.3 million units worldwide. Alan Wake 2 sold over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months. So yeah, you can rest assured that Remedy is not in a financial crisis after developing this horror game.

This also shows why you shouldn’t pay a lot of attention to sales speculations. I’ve seen this happening in A LOT of games. Hell, some media are even reporting the drop of concurrent players on Steam, suggesting that some games are suddenly in trouble. These “negative news stories” can spread like wildfire, which is why some media are publishing these articles. So, you should be grateful we’re focusing on things like Path Tracing, Mods and Unreal Engine 5. At least we’re not lying in your face.

Anyway, Remedy has also revealed that CONTROL has sold over 4 million units in total. The team also expects Alan Wake 2 to have long tail sales. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, no. There is still no word on when, and if, Alan Wake 2 will come out on Steam.

Alan Wake 2 was released in October 2023 and it’s one of the few triple-A games that had Path Tracing effects on PC. Remedy has also addressed most of the issues we’ve reported. Not only that, but it brought some additional performance improvements. As such, the game is in an even better state than its launch version.

Finally, Remedy stated that it will continue supporting Alan Wake 2. The team is currently working on two paid DLCs that will expand its story. Players can also expect more updates and patches down the line.

Stay tuned for more!
