AION Celebrates One Year Of Free-To-Play Mayhem

AION
Gameforge announced that AION celebrates today its first free-to-play anniversary, thus the team will be celebrating the anniversary of this occasion with many events – together with the players! For example, in the Boost event there will be 50% more experience and Abyss points and a 50% increased chance on the drop rate of items as well as the success rate when crafting until the 6th March. On top of this, a special happy hour is waiting for the AION community alongside the Spring event on Thursday 28th February: the Daeva Special. Players receive an additional 20% of their purchased coins when buying AION Coins between 12 and 2 PM.
Alongside the events within the game, Gameforge has also got a further celebratory gift ready: the announcement of the next 3.9 update. This will appear on the 17th April and brings with it new content and functions. The dungeon finder allows players to quickly and easily join an instance group or to find further allies for shared adventures – and that beyond server boundaries. A further feature, which will appeal to newcomers especially, is the Rookie server: here it will be possible to unite with players from other servers and discover the lower-levelled regions together. Protected from the other faction’s players, the Daevas will be able to advance to higher-levelled regions faster.
Since the start of the free version of AION, over 2.7 million new accounts have been registered and currently 3 million players are cavorting in the world of Atreia. To offer these players plenty of space, Gameforge will be opening four additional game servers soon after the release. Version 3.0 expanded AION as the most substantial update to date, with new content such as housing, the weather system, new jobs and mounts.
The current expansion to 3.5 places focus on additional content for high-levelled PvE and PvP players. Alongside the final battle against dragon ruler Tiamat, the ‘Arena of Cooperation’ challenges three teams of two players each to face one another in battle. This 2v2v2 system demands much skill and opens numerous new tactical possibilities. The ‘Arena of Glory’ is a PvP arena in which the four players all fight one another for survival. Successful Daevas will receive insignia, which they can exchange for valuable items.
