Chinese website Coolaler has leaked AMD’s Ryzen CPU lineup. According to the report, AMD will be offering 17 CPU models that will compete with Intel’s i5 and i7 CPUs.
Since this lineup has not been confirmed yet, we strongly suggest everything you are about to read with a grain of salt.
AMD plans to tackle Intel’s i7 CPUs with the AMD R7 1700 Ryzen (normal and X versions) and the AMD R7 1800 Ryzen (normal and X versions). Both of these chips will feature eight cores, sixteen threads, and will be clocked at 3-3.6Ghz, though it’s still unknown their turbo boost frequency.
AMD’s R7 1600 and R7 1500 will compete with Intel’s i5 7600 and 7500 CPUs. These chips will feature six CPU cores and twelve threads, and will be clocked at 3.2-3.5Ghz.
Moreover, AMD’s R5 1400X will compete with Intel’s i5 7400, and will come with four CPU cores and eight threads.
AMD will be also offering 7 other CPU models that will most probably target the low-range market.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know the price of these chips. The good news is that AMD plans to release Ryzen in early March, so we’ll most probably hear more about it in the coming weeks!

This rumor is pretty fake, let’s wait for something more accurate
If this is even a little bit true and the price is right i’ll definitely go for one of the 6 core cpu’s
They should RnD on cpus with 6 cores max but a frequency much much higher 5.0/5.5ghz.
8cores don’t benefit gamers much. If games are what one wants to use the cpu for.
Lower NM and new architecture can help with that. The cpu market has been making efficiency gains for quite some time now but unfortunately from generation to generation, in-game performances do not change much. I’m talking about Devil’s canyon/haswell(e)/Broadwell(e)/Skylake etc. They’re all around 4.0ghz. What if we could bring Cannonlake cpus to 6.0ghz with respectable heat output, at 10nm it could be ground breaking. Add to that the new features the architecture offers.
Food for thoughts.
Oh well that makes sense but why is it that cpus are much cooler un 22nm that they were in the old days… say 90nm ? Am i missing something ?
Are they really though (the times, changing)? Or is that an illusion caused by better silicone being put in chips with more cores (i7 vs. i5). I’m sure there are some games where more cores help but I’m also rather sure that single core performance remains a bottleneck nonetheless, and the reason an i7 will beat an i5 in games is that each core in an i7 is in fact more powerful than each core in an i5.
If someone can prove me wrong here that would be appreciated, don’t hold back.
silicone …
Oh no, a typo!
But they benefit people with heavy, CPU-based workloads (3D modelling/rendering, CAD drawing and similars) and that’s a market they also need right now, as it is heavily dominated by Intel. And getting higher clock speeds than Intel’s offerings at a (hopefully) lower cost is something most people in the professional field will consider.
It’s why i stated that my comment was for gaming purposes. For heavy workloads/threads, no doubt more cores helps.
Fair enough. Although, if I can get 8C/16T for the same money I get a 4C/8T I wouldn’t think it’s a bad deal, IMO, gaming only or not.
Yea but same price bracket is probably not happening. If amd is aggressive enough maybe it’ll get close but it is not in their interest to drop prices so low so that they’ll barely make money.
I agree. Although, Intel’s very high-end is seriously overpriced. Even if AMD sells a 6900K competitor at half the price they would be making serious money. Lower tiers of the same processor would certainly not have as big a difference in pricing to their Intel counterparts and even taking comparable $350 CPUs, if AMD launches an 6C/12T at that price point, AMD will have the upper hand.
True. Intel has so much market share they can shove crazy prices down our throats. Let’s hope AMD can deliver for the sake of consumers.
i agree it is only a matter of time until all developers start programing games to make 100% use of 8 cores.
Fake as all hell.
We already have confirmed information coming from AMD which contradicts this “leak”.
So if I’m reading that table correctly their premium CPU for gamers will be the three variants of the R7 1700 whereas those who are after the X99 equivalent are catered to by the two variants of the R7 1800? Assuming the ‘leak’ is accurate, of course.
Either Amd is being very nice with pricing(for a reason) or this is completely fake
AMD has always destroyed Intel with pricing. Even when their chips were faster.
Yeah but not by this much for example a Phenom II x6 was priced at 290$ and the I7 920 was priced at 284$. Depsite the fact that they trade blows in mulththreaded benchmarks but the phenom loses badly in single threaded and therefore basically anything back then.
Another time zone if i remember correctly was with the original FX processors they were better then Intel and Amd made sure they would price it as much as they could.
When i look at Amd i do see a advantage over Intel in performance per dolalr but not as much as Amd fans do. Most of the time its cheaper for a reason.
We already know if you want super fast high end performance its gonna cost us but if we want to get maybe 70% of that high-end performance then we save a LOT of money.
This Rumor looks super fake.
what about the PRICE???
Now the 6 cores are back and none of the 4 cores compete with a top level i5? And 17 different models??? I’m going to HOPE that this is fake. I want a 4/8 with high IPC. I don’t need more than 8 threads, I need games’ main thread to run fast.
As far as I know, AMD said all their chips are going to be unlocked so… seeing X and non-X variants here I’d say it’s BS.
AMD R7 1800 HERE I COME!
