Konami Is Apparently Not Ceasing Triple-A Game Development, Konami Europe’s Community Manager Reports

A couple of days ago, a new rumor arose, suggesting that Konami was ceasing development of triple-A games. Naturally, a lot of fans got disappointed with this. However and according to Konami Europe’s community manager, this rumor is not true at all.

Moreover, Reddit’s member ‘ComplexOrganisms‘ contacted Konami and asked about the future of FOX Engine. According to ComplexOrganisms, Konami replied and claimed that the company is still “definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”

As we’ve said and with CD Projekt RED’s rumor, we’ll give Konami the benefit of the doubt. Whether this is an attempt at damage control remains to be seen. So here is hoping that Konami will restart the development for a proper FOX Engine-powered game similar to P.T.

      1. Well, at least we have Bloodstained to look forward to for Castlevania. But yeah, I’m just counting down the days for a Contra pachinko machine.

        1. Well Bloodstained is not a under the name of CastleV but it might as well be a CastleV game. Just like Mighty No 9 might as well be a Mega Man game since they are made by the original creators. Fun fact the lead dev of Contra still works for Konami only he is not a game developer anymore…..

  1. The only good thing I can see happening to the MG Franchise Post-Kojima is Remasters of the earlier Games, & PC Ports. Everything else would just end up like Rising Pre-Kojima intervention. Though in that case I guess it’s bad news for the OG MG remake.

As for Silent Hill, didn’t they just recently cancel the latest Silent Hill game? Doesn’t bode too well for that IP either IMO.

Castlevania…. Lords of Shadow 3? Eh.

  2. So does this mean Konami Interactive will finish EP51 for Metal Gear Phantom Pain and sell it as DLC as I suspected? eh eh…

  3. Please Konami…end up like THQ so those IP of yours ( MGS,Castlevania,Silent Hill ) can go to company that treat it right.

    1. Nah, Konami ain’t going to be dying any time soon. Rumours are that they’re trying to transition into the gambling video game market for like casinos and stuff. Why they wouldn’t just expand (instead of transition) is beyond me.

Hopefully if they do transition, they will be kind enough to auction off the IPs to some good devs out there. Personally I want to see another Suikoden game.
