Stardock Entertainment has launched a Free Playtest for the sequel to its massive RTS game, Ashes of the Singularity. This Free Playtest runs until September 14th, letting you get your first taste of this new strategy game.
In the Free Playtest, players will be able to command either the United Earth Forces (UEF) or the Post-Human Coalition (PHC) across a selection of multiplayer maps, battling other commanders head-to-head or joining forces in team matches.
Ashes of the Singularity 2 is the sequel to Stardock’s groundbreaking massive-scale real-time strategy game. In the sequel, you will take control of huge armies and fight to take over whole planets. You can lead the forces of Earth, the robot-like AI Substrate, or the mysterious Post-Human Coalition. You can play alone, with friends in co-op, or against others in multiplayer battles across the solar system.
Players will control thousands of units in real time on giant battlefields as big as continents. You can zoom out to see the whole battlefield or zoom in to control the action up close. As you fight, the land around you changes – buildings break, terrain shifts, and areas turn into or out of a special material called Turinium. You’ll see the battlefield change based on your actions, showing the true impact of war.
The final version will have both a campaign and multiplayer modes.
In the campaign, you’ll lead the United Earth Forces as they fight to survive and rebuild in a dangerous future. You’ll face powerful enemies like the Post-Humans and the AI Substrate.
In multiplayer and Instant Action, you can play as different factions. You can choose the strong humans of the United Earth Forces, the high-tech Post-Human Coalition, or the smart and powerful AI Substrate.
For what it’s worth, there is still no ETA for when the final version will come out.
