Now here is a pleasant surprise. Focus Entertainment has just released a new patch for the PC version of Atomic Heart that removes the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.
It’s worth noting that voices38 cracked Atomic Heart in July 2026. And, since the game was released in February 2023, I was not expecting Focus Entertainment to remove Denuvo from it. However, the publisher has surprised me, so kudos to it.
Atomic Heart was one of the first games that was meant to take advantage of Ray Tracing on PC. However, the game came out without any RT effects. It took Mundfish a year to implement them.
Mundfish used Ray Tracing to enhance the game’s reflections and ambient occlusion. However, those RT effects were not particularly impressive. At least in my opinion. By that point, I was spoiled by RTGI and Path Tracing. So, it would make more sense to push for all Ray Tracing effects, like RTGI, RTAO, RT Reflections, and RT Shadows. Or to go a step ahead and add Path Tracing.
Anyway, it’s good news that the game no longer has Denuvo. And it will be interesting to see whether its sequel will use it. After all, Mundfish is right now working on Atomic Heart 2. The game will use Unreal Engine 5, and it targets a late 2026 release. Realistically, though, the game will slip into 2027.
Focus Entertainment joins the list of publishers who have removed Denuvo from their PC releases. One of them is Square Enix. Square Enix has removed Denuvo from DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake. In December 2025, they also removed it from Just Cause 3. Not only that, but they have removed it from The Diofield Chronicle, VALKYRIE ELYSIUM, TRIANGLE STRATEGY, LIVE A LIVE, and Forspoken. Moreover, both Octopath Traveler and its sequel no longer use it. And that’s not all. In May 2024, SE removed it from Star Ocean The Second Story R. Finally, in March 2025, the publisher removed it from Final Fantasy 16.
Capcom is another publisher that has removed Denuvo from a lot of its games. In November 2025, they removed it from Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, and Resident Evil Village are also Denuvo-free as we speak. Similarly, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake no longer use it. In July 2025, the Japanese team also removed it from Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Plus, Capcom has recently removed it from Resident Evil 4 Remake.
In March 2023, KRAFTON removed Denuvo from The Callisto Protocol. NEOWIZ has also removed it from its Souls-like game, Lies of P. In October 2024, Gearbox removed it from Homeworld 3, too. Finally, Warner Bros has removed it from Gotham Knights, Back 4 Blood, and Mortal Kombat 11.
