New videos from the latest videos of the PlayStation 4 emulator, shadPS4, have surfaced online. These videos show the PS4 emulator booting Dark Souls Remastered and Resident Evil 4. Moreover, the emulator can already run a number of games, including some 3D ones. So, let’s take a look at them.
For those unaware, shadPS4 is a PlayStation 4 emulator that appears to be in the most advanced state. At least for now. The emulator is already able to boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered and Bloodborne. And now, it appears that it can also boot Dark Souls Remastered and Resident Evil 4.
Now while this may seem like a “nothing-burger” to a lot of PC users, this is huge news for the PS4 emulation scene. I still don’t expect this emulator to run Bloodborne smoothly in 2024 (or even in 2025). Still, I’m fascinated by its progress.
As said, shadPS4 can already run a few games. For instance, it can run, almost at full speed, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. Capcom Fighting Collection also appears to be fully playable. Then we have Blazing Chrome which can run at an acceptable speed. It still doesn’t run at 60fps and there are various graphical glitches. Still, it’s playable.
shadPS4 can also run Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. However, these Tomb Raider games run really slow. Not only that but there are major graphical issues with them. Still, the fact that the emulator can run a PS4 game that came out in 2024 is incredible.
Finally, Broken Sword 5 is another game that will run on the shadPS4. Since this is an adventure game, it appears to be playable (even though it’s not running at full speed). As with the other games, though, it suffers from some graphical issues.
All in all, I’m impressed by the current state of shadPS4. If you want to try it, you can download its latest version from this link.
For those wondering, shadPS4 is the seventh PS4 emulator that is in development. The other six are psOff, fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Next year to the Jerusalem!
Since we're in emulation news here, I just wanted to tell you guys to give a chance to Ares (v1.39 now), which is an incredible and ultra-simple multi-emulator which can run an astounding number of machines, up to the Gameboy Advance.(but no Dreamcast/PS2)
It also has ALL shaders you can think of, but again, since it keeps everything simple, you can't configure them like in Retroarch.
It's literally the opposite of Retroarch, for those who want just a good old simple emulator like in the late 90s-early 2000s.
It supports the CHD format! (Mega-CD, PS1, etc)
Development is very active, you can follow the news on Reddit (r/emulation).
