Starfield new feature

Bethesda will add a FOV slider and DLSS in Starfield

Bethesda has revealed that it will add a FOV slider and official support for DLSS in Starfield via upcoming updates. In addition, the team will introduce Brightness and Contrast controls, will add HDR Calibration Menu, and bring support for 32:9 Ultrawide monitors.

As Bethesda noted, these features will not be included in the first patch for Starfield. Instead, the first update will be a small hotfix targeted at the “few top issues we are seeing.”

Now the good news here is that this will limit the number of mods that PC gamers must use in order to get an optimal experience in this game. Starfield should have supported all of these features from the get-go. But hey, at least Bethesda has not abandoned the game and will, eventually, add them.

Bethesda has also re-stated that it will release the Starfield Creation Kit in 2024. This kit will allow modders to create new experiences in this new space RPG.

Speaking of Starfield, we also suggest taking a look at these other mods for it. For instance, this mod solves the game’s elevated black levels/washed-out graphics. You can also use this guide in order to increase your FOV. Then we have this AI-upscaled 4K Texture Pack. And let’s not forget the DLSS 2/XeSS and DLSS 3 Frame Generation mods. Sprinting Stuttering Fix is another interesting mod that addresses some stuttering issues that could occur in Starfield while running. Earlier today, we also shared two must-have mods that overhaul the game’s User Interface and Particle Effects. And finally, there is an 8K Texture Pack that overhauls almost all of the game’s planets.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. The problem is the speed of this updates. Larian was amazing of how fast the update the game. Something Iam expecting for such big game studios.

    1. They should just actually arrange that with modders for the sake of quickly making the game better for everyone, and it saves them time and money.
Or, you know, integrate a mods server.

          1. Their marketing machine and Xbox drones keep driving up their sales, what are you gonna do?
At least Starfield was a kick in their teeth

          2. I dunnot about that, i feel they haven’t learned their lesson. We’re about to see them around for some time.

  2. Todays patch made animations on PC not locked at 30 fps. Fire, smoke, character animation in 3rd person are a lot smoother now. Most quest npcs lips are now in sync with voice dialog. Random npcs seems to be at 30 fps still.

  3. i updated… noticed that global illumination looks different, somehow worse, like more simplistic. I am not too sure, but i noticed immediately since i started the game post patch, and still i have this feeling after 1 hour.

  4. Don’t you need to implement native HDT support before you can add a calibration screen? The auto HDR is completely broken too.

  5. Brightness and Contrast controls and an FOV slider, something that should have been at launch that some coffee jockey could add in his spare time… Jesus… these companies…

  6. I don’t know what the complaints about this game are anyway. You millions and millions of people paid full price to be Beta Testers for this game and you knew it full well when you did it.

Starfield should be ready for release sometime next year after the modding community gets the tools that Turd Howard promised.

    1. Indeed. Meanwhile Digital Foundry will continue simping for the game, Todd Howard and Phil Spencer while also publicly ridiculing others for having dared to query how well optimized the game is on PC.

It’s impressive what can be achieved by corporations such as Microsoft from simply granting special access to DF and group photographs with Howard and Spencer plus also throwing them a few bucks by way of sponsoring a few of their videos.

  7. So happy to see this s*it to dropped down to “mosty positive” on steam.
Didn’t buy the gave because had no illusions after what was shown before release. Howard must go.

  8. This whole fiasco showed some things-
    1) Nvidia has full control over pc/laptop gaming
    2) Users want most superior tech
    3) Amd will think 100 times before sponsoring another game and wasting their money
    4) Devs will think 100 times before taking amd’s sponsorship
    5) DLss will now be available in all games.
    6) DLSS mod has near 1 million downloads.

    1. But unfortunately nvidia doesn’t care about gamers anymore. Rumor has it that they took away most of the budget for game ready drivers of Starfield in favor of their AI team as it makes them more money.

  9. It’s trendy to hate on this game but honestly I’m loving it. Game keeps getting better the more I play. No bugs so far and like 25 hours in. Feels like PC players have been conditioned into being whiny AF, as far as bad pc ports go this is far from the worst. Never get frame drops anywhere in 1440, 3080 ti. People just like to moan, if you can’t run this game it probably is time to upgrade your system tbh.

  10. So in fact they will patch for what we al ready have and breaks all the mods? Glad i deleted this game this morning after proudly pitating it. Sry Spencer, Gamepass version sucks, i think from now i ll let my 4090 takes the dust and only play with the with the rog ally on olders games and jerk of on my tablet S8 ultra, i am done with AAA
