Modder ‘chainfailure’ has released a must-have mod for Elden Ring. This Elden Ring mod forces all light sources to cast dynamic shadows, and can transform some indoor environments, like caves and dungeons.
Although the modder has not shared any video, he did provide a comparison screenshot that you can find below. The vanilla screenshot is on the left, whereas the modded screenshot is on the right.
As you can clearly see, the torch can now cast dynamic shadows. And, in case you’re wondering, the game’s Ray Tracing Shadows could not address this issue. So no, you can’t have dynamic shadows from all light sources by simply enabling the game’s RT features.
What’s also interesting is that the modder was able to make this mod work with Dark Souls 3. Thus, you can experiment by dropping the file into the Dark Souls 3 folder. Just keep in mind that there might be some visual bugs and glitches with it.
You can download this Elden Ring Dynamic Shadows Mod from here. Do note that this mod only works with the latest Steam version, version 1.09.1. If, for some reason, you’re using an older version, you won’t be able to use it. We also suggest using it in offline mode, and not while playing online.
Speaking of Elden Ring, here are other cool free mods that you can download for it. This mod adds seamless co-op functionalities to the game, whereas this mod introduces a parry system similar to that of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. There is also this mod that introduces an unofficial Survival Mode. Flawless Ultrawide is another must-have mod as it enables support for ultra-wide resolutions/monitors. Let’s also not forget the amazing first-person mod. Furthermore, you can download a 25GB HD Texture Pack that upscales over 4500 environmental textures. And lastly, we have the Convergence Mod and the DLSS 3 Mod.
Have fun!

Very welcome mod but looks like the objects don’t cast shadows e.g. the barrel.
This was one of its biggest shortcomings in visual terms. Torches not casting shadows… a game like Gothic 3 could do that in 2006 (!). I get that ER isn’t a seller because of its visuals but some basics I still except from a game with that kind of budget.
why so many games nowadays nerf the shadows , i just dont get it.
Same with real time and planar reflections. We used to have amazing looking water (alan wake, half life) but now we just have puddle of goo that don’t reflect.
quality of water affects fps very highly thats why
Console parity.

This clip is the opposite of parity.
Then you don’t know what console parity means. Must be that sh*t skin IQ.
Are you a PS4 owner with hurt feelings because RE4 can’t run as good and with the same effects as a PS5?
you need a mod for that? I mean shouldn’t the developers do this before releasing a 2020+ title?
Technically it’s from early 2010. But because it’s Fromsoftware game it gets a free pass and no hate train happens.
The game got plenty of hate for old graphics and reused animations.
Not once I’ve seen smear campaigns on Youtube or media making fun of the graphics. The game is all about dark and mystery yet it doesn’t even have dynamic lights. If Bethesda or Bioware or Blizzard then the internet would be on fire lets be real here
It seems neither commentary affacts those games botton line.
“If Bethesda or Bioware or Blizzard”
If it was Bethesda it will be bugged and broken
If it was Bioware it will be woke AF
If it was Blizzard it will be GAAS… And woke
Elden Ring is none of that
I was disappointed to find out the used a lot of textures from 2016 Dark Souls 3 ….. and downgraded them from 1k to 512. A lot of the textures in that texture pack John links to takes the 1k textures from DS3 and AI upscales them to 2k and replaces the 512 textures in Elden Ring.
Apparently the game engine can’t choose from multiple textures resolutions and in order to make the game work on GPUs with 4GB VRAM they downgraded all the textures. A proper game engine you can have 512, 1k, 2k and 4k textures and the game engine will choose the one that best fits your VRAM and resolution
Elden Ring VR mod: “Am I a joke to you?”
Sucks that this game’s anti-cheat doesn’t even allow visual mods. I’d use this and the textures but losing invasions just isn’t an option.
Finally Dark Souls 2 gets the recognition it deserves (yeah i know they didn’t invent this feature, but for souls games it was the first to put this feature and then vanish).
Never played that game, but I can’t believe that the shadows weren’t already like that.
That’s pretty pathetic in the 2020s.
They used to have this feature in Dark Souls 2 somewhat, but newer interactions didn’t have it.
