NieR Automata came out on PC in March 2017 and had not received a single patch. However, and after four whole years, that’s about to change. According to its official Twitter account, a new PC patch will come out soon for the Steam version of NieR Automata.
My guess is that this Steam patch will add all the improvements that were included in the game’s Windows Store version. Thus, Steam owners can expect proper fullscreen and resolution modes. Furthermore, this updated version will most likely have less stutters.
To be honest, I don’t expect Square Enix to implement or add any other tweaks or improvements. Still, this patch will make the Steam version as good as the Windows Store version.
Naturally, PC gamers will still need some mods in order to further improve their experience. For instance, we highly recommend using the Input Overhaul Mod which adds raw mouse input. I have finished NieR Automata with K&M thanks to this mod and I can tell you that the game works incredibly well with K&M (and its twin-stick sequences become really easy thanks to it).
We also suggest using this HD Texture Pack that overhauls numerous textures for it.

While this is all good, I can’t believe the r etarded steam userbase review bombed it down to 25/100 when they could slap on 3 mods and have much, much better experience than the inferior (you read that right) UWP version.
Imagine a world in which this latex guy says something positive about anything.
The mods will be updated sooner or later for the new game version.
At worst the devs can lock the game out of modding ala Rockstar, at best having to inconvenience yourself to update the mods.

It was review bombed based on false information spread by PC Gamer. Digital Foundry actually went through it and found that the only real differences were that minor they still recommended the steam version over the gamepass version.

They only recommended it over the GP version because you couldn’t mod the GP version with Kaldein’s mod. Now it can be modded and they said as much in their DF weekly direct.
Kaldaien’s mod was always compatible with the Gamepass version, they just didn’t know what they were talking about. Could have consulted me 🙂

Better to leave as is and move on as we already have a very established mod collection. The update will likely destroy all that the modders have made for HDR and AMD UselessFX.

I have to say this game finally made me realize that my taste in games is in totally different level with today’s game critics (well, I’ve known it about past 10 years). Maybe it’s just me but for example I think Destroy All Humans! is much more immersive and interesting game compared to this woke attack they call game.
If this is what critics today call a good RPG, they wouldn’t recognize a good RPG if it kicked their a**es. Well this isn’t the first game in last decade that is crap and gets rather good reviews. Well this reminds me that the game didn’t even have a coherence in it’s world building. It was more like a mess of a different ideas stolen from different sources.

I personally disagree with the stuff you said cause I, an almost 30 year old male, had a great time with Nier Automata. Initially I thought I’d hate the game cause it looks like a generic “uwu animu waifu” type of a game which is something that does not get my attention (and that says a lot coming from a dude with Uchiha in his decade + old nickname he’s too lazy to change). But I was proven wrong, I enjoyed almost every second of Nier Automata.
The story was memorable, the combat loop was nice and fluid (once modded), the characters were decently fleshed out, the OST was AMAZING. So yeah, for my tastes this game had it all and then some.
