With the release of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3090 GPU, 8K/Ultra gaming is finally a reality. Now obviously this GPU cannot provide 60fps in 8K and Ultra details. However, it can at least offer a constant 30fps, even on some really demanding games.
Let’s start with the first game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can run with more than 30fps in 8K/Ultra and Low Anti-Aliasing on the RTX3090.
Red Dead Redemption 2 can run with more than 30fps in 8K and Medium settings on a single RTX3090. However, if you SLI two RTX3090, you can get more than 40fps in 8K and on Ultra settings. Of course we don’t expect most of you to buy two RTX3090 in order to play games in 8K. However, SLI was always giving us a glimpse at the future (I still love the GTX690). This right here shows why most of us loved the SLI/Crossfire tech, and why we are disappointed with how NVIDIA and AMD mistreated it.
Godfall is a next-gen game that has just been released on both PC and PS5. And, in 8K/Ultra settings, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3090 can run it with 30fps.
Now for something really interesting here. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can run in 8K/Ultra with around 60fps on the RTX3090 via DLSS Ultra Performance. However, this is also with the game’s Ray Tracing effects set on Ultra. This is truly amazing and in 8K, DLSS Ultra Performance may provide a better image quality than native 4K.
Lastly, here are also Skyrim Special Edition, Blair Witch, Ryse: Son of Rome, Halo 4 and Forza Horizon 4 running in native 8K with Ultra settings.

The whole RTX 30×0 thing need a fix. BSODs even on desktop…
? Or anything else.
Haven’t had any issues like that with my 30 series card only issue i had was with Odyssey g9 and to get 240hz+hdr to work with the card (120hz was fine)… and it was fixed by Samsung in a recent firmware update (enthusiast parts often require a couple of fw/driver round to get stabilized, its pretty much the cost of being an early adopter of the latest and greatest). The card have been rock solid.
There was a few very early problems with stability due to an over aggressive curve and it was smothed out at the first driver update about 1 week after release, some just are stuck in the past. Luckily i got mine after that was fixed.
Fun thing is that perf didn’t tank either as boost could be sustained longer at high rather than shorter at super high – Result = More consistent frame pacing according to the fcat’s i seen about that.
Completely useless except if you have a monitor larger than 60in, which would be ridiculous…
Im using 55″ 4k TV as monitor, before that i used to have 100″ screen from projector… Honestly non of my friends use monitors anymore, everyone has TV hooked to PC.
So they browse the internet from their couch?
red dead is a 2 year old game. Test the new GPU with the latest games bro. Dont bother with older ones.
And yet it look better than most latest game come out. Fail post.
So, extra large screenshots?
John, no trolling, would you explain the point or your interest in 8K benchmarking since most of us don’t see any to it?
I have wondered about this too. Are any of you guys running a 8K monitor or plan to?
no, but only reason cards like 3090 exist is doing tests like that. Just because majority of PC gamers cannot afford hardware to play even in 4k it doesn’t mean there are no ppl that can afford 3090 or ppl that simply are curious how it looks, runs etc out of simple curiosity.
So we are catering for the 0.01% with articles like this. Gotcha.
It’s good clickbait, generates traffic, thus revenue.
It’s that simple.
8K looks simply crystal clear.
Oh God here we go, another 2 years of this… ????? If you’re gonna subject us to “look at my shiny top of the line GPU” can you switch it up every release cycle. Would be nice to see AMD this time around. We sat through the 2080 ti for 2.5 years. It’s the least you can do John. ???????
AyMD is not good for 4K. Ray Tracing or 8K, its garbage for AMD fanboys
Why not 128k while we are at it. Bloody f*king nonsense.
8k gaming a reality?!this is one of the poorest articles i have ever read.are you now working for nvidia’s marketing?even the title is a lie 8k/ultra ? and then in the text you say obviously it is not possible!!
I agree, this is just total BS ciickbait stuff.
unfortunately,some morons don’t understand.
He said 60FPS is not possible not ultra settings… all games in article were on ultra settings. Learn to read before you post your crying about fact that most expensive card can run games in 8k.
man you are a moron who knows nothing about playable vs bullshit fps.
“Red Dead Redemption 2 can run with more than 30fps in 8K and Medium settings on a single RTX3090”.hey blind moron now who hasn’t read the article? all games on ultra? even if all of them were on ultra and just one game was less than 60 fps ,it wouldn’t mean 8k gaming was a reality. your definition of an 8k gaming card needed fps=peasantry.
AMD Fanatic Detected, stay with your Pauper and Peasantry FHD and 1440p, leave the big league 4K and 8K to Nvidia
you moron. i didn’t criticize nvidia. my objection was to the bulls**t article.
No point in posting such articles..You are filling your daily quota. A damn shame john..
Great article, but I think its downsampled 8K that was resampled back to 8K.
Look at his settings, you can see the monitor name, its not a monitor its Avermedia 4K capture card, the best one right, i have one too, but its HDMI 2.0 and limited to 4K/60.
So he probably run the game in 4K with 8K downsampling, then he took the 4K high bit rate video and resized back to 8K and uploaded to YT
no matter the quality… youtube compresssion is too brutal to give a true appreciation/portrayal of how the game actually looks so… whatevs
1k all the way! How long has 4k been out, 10 years and almost no content outside of games. Very few gamers even game at 4k, tv prices are decent but everything else that 4k needs to work is overpriced to this day. Until the marxist totalitarian overlords, which we’ve seen at work overtly over 2020, require 4k to be free or costs lowered, it’s not going to catch on. 8k as a daily use res is over 10 years away.
