The remake for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom releases tomorrow on the PC. THQ Nordic has provided us with a review code, so we’ve decided to take a look at it and examine the state of the PC port.
In order to test the game and capture some PC gameplay footage, we used an Intel i9 9900K with 16GB of DDR4 at 3600Mhz. Naturally, we’ve paired this machine with an NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the latest version of the GeForce drivers.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated appears to be running silky smooth on the PC platform. The game is using Unreal Engine 4, and did not tax at all our RTX2080Ti. As you can see in the following PC gameplay video, the game was running with 144fps at 2560×1440. Not only that, but our GPU was used at only 40-51%. Unfortunately, we could not force the game to run in 4K resolutions on our 1440p G-Sync monitor, no matter what.
Furthermore, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated displays proper in-game PC prompts. The game can either display gamepad buttons or the K&M keys. Moreover, we did not experience any crashes, mouse acceleration or mouse smoothing issues; everything appeared to be working wonderfully.

Compared to its original version, this remake of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom looks great on the PC. There are new lighting effects, new textures, and overhauled objects. This is a truly great remake of the original version, and most of its fans will be pleased by it.
In conclusion, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated runs like a charm on the PC. The game allows high framerates (though there is a cap to 144fps), and does not require a high-end PC system. The game also plays wonderfully with the mouse and keyboard. Our only gripe with the PC port is the inability to force 4K resolutions on both 1080p or 1440p monitors.

Considering how the game looks and is built, it was freaking mandatory for it to run with high FPS at max settings regardless. If they would have failed at even that, then that would have just proved how lazy some developers are.
Are you new to PC games? we had so many unoptomized ports in the past, that having a game with decent optimization is worth to mention.

Reviews are kind of important now more than ever with how much garbage companies try to overhype to boost preorders. A lot of the time, especially recently, having certain youtubers or streamers get the game early has saved us all money. If you get mad over that unironically, you’re a child. Yes, people have to pay for products and services most of the time. Media outlets and influencers usually get them for free though. The game is half the price of a normal title and its actually a really good 3D platformer. Its 100% worth buying especially considering its on a 10% sale on most sites right now
