Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed to September 17th

Well, we all saw that coming, right? After all, Cyberpunk 2077 was releasing in April 2020 and we haven’t seen any new screenshots or trailers these past few weeks. And today, CD Projekt RED announced that the game has been delayed until September 17th, 2020.

According to the team, this will give it enough time to further polish it. The game is playable from start to finish right now and will be huge. As such, the team wants to release a polished product; a product that won’t – hopefully – have the launch issues of The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG that will mainly feature first-person cut-scenes. While there will be some rare third-person cut-scenes, all of the conversations will be in first-person perspective. Moreover, CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that it will add a multiplayer mode via a post-launch update.

The game will also support real-time ray tracing effects. Since AMD will be releasing a GPU that will support ray tracing, we expect these effects to run on both AMD and NVIDIA hardware.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Bummer..but I think it’s for the best and tbh I’m sick and tired of playing unfinished triple-A games.

    1. ” I’m sick and tired of playing unfinished triple-A games.”

dude, every trailer for this game is “work in progress does not represent the final product” and “not final footage” nothing is final in that game, they removed the compass and added a minimap and they removed gender options….cyberpunk is slowly becoming starcitizen 2.0…but unlike that game it will come out, its not like the glitcher 3 or glicher 1 and 2 were not buggy on release.

    2. You’re delusional if you think this game won’t have major bugs on release. It’s CDPR after all. All their games are in major need of patching when they release. So it really doesn’t matter if they put it off supposedly to squash out those bugs.

  2. I just hope they work some exclusivity deal out with Epic so I can keep migrating my library over to their store and other people will be forced to quit buying games off Steam.

      1. Why they would do that when they have GOG? your fandom for Epic made you moronic…

RDR2 was first available to Rockstar’s own store AND Epic, but not available to Steam. Just how stupid are you that you don’t remember a month ago?

        1. Totally irrelevant, Rockstar’s launcher released with RDR2…it’s not the same case for Steam, GOG and that joke of a store called Epic. Also, you can preoder the game for a while now..EVERYWHERE, you forgot about that?

          1. That sure is the most non-sensible and unclear reply you could have wrote. What’s the difference again? And yeah, won’t be the first time a game is available on Steam and then pulled.. you forgot that too?

          2. You are comparing a game that was released on PC a year after consoles, add to that it was the perfect excuse to shove their own Launcher to a game that is gonna be released in every platform, store and doesnt even have DRM to justify any exclusivity with your BS store..how that makes sense to you¿ are you high? Steam has the luxury to pull out games…Epic barely has (worthy) games to sell. Again, they have their own store..WHY the f*ck they would do a deal with Epic? just to give another middle finger to customers? they are not stupid. you certainly are.

    1. what a stupid f_ck. You don’t like something so let’s take everyones choices away. You are a complete tool.

  3. Hmm, i think CDPR held back the game release for the GPU gen too. It makes sense after all, perfomance with the advertised RTX wont be good and i dont think also that CDPR will risk much at this point but play it safe.

    1. Again with this moronic nvidia shilling/excuse…for f** sake not every game company has Nvidia’s hand up their a**. Same goes for AMD and Intel. Get a life.

      1. You didnt pay attention to my last part of my reply. CDPR has too much to lose and wont take the risk, since the new cards are about to be announced. CP2077 demos showed that the game took a beast to operate and the prefomance like any RTX game was bad. So waiting for the new gen cards to offer a “better” product that will run much better on the 30xx gen then on 20xx is a no-brainer.

          1. Don’t think so. Well if it does then hypothesis didnt pan out. Plus its not just NV but also AMD that will release new GPUs with RTX.

        1. Oh I played plenty attention (more than I should actually), but I still think you should detach your mouth from Huang’s a** once in a while and catch up with the news…especially the part where it says “CP2077 will be out on PC and consoles” …so whatever Nvidia, Intel or AMD does hardware or software wise by the time the game will launch, it will have little to no impact with CDPR’s plans regarding the game.

On the other hand if CP2077 were to be an exclusive PC title, than I might play along with your fanboy theories, but since that is not the case (unfortunately I might add) I see no reason to continue this conversation.

          1. Hey i stated my opinion and you yours. Both have been registered online for everyone to read and evaluate. You dont have to be a total tool about it though. Its not like you are the PROPHET of GOD or something,

    1. Probably. They had 5 damn years to make the damn game. Instead of wasting resources on stupid Gwent they could’ve put them to use to the main attraction but no.

  4. BABAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Just a day ago i said “now that ff7 has been delayed along with doom, the only thing left is for cyberpunk to be delayed and all the good games this year are delayed”

    HAHAHAHHA i was right.

    1. GooOOOOOOooood. Heres your cookie and you get first pick of the toys at break time. Games get delayed all the time, hardly a revelation on your part.

      1. are you stupid? I said that even the last anticipated game got delayed. Thats the funny part. ALL OF THEM ARE DELAYED

    1. What a pointless f*king post. Just like this post pointing out how f*king pointless your post is. Click on a story you don’t care about just to tell the world you don’t care. I wonder if you do that to the 10,000,000 other stories posted on the internet every single day.

  5. another studio pulling a Rockstar move, who knows if it’s really polishing works or just to create more hype by just delaying & making us wait! September release pulls it closer to Next gen Console release too.
F*k you CDPR, but I still love you.

    1. you know for the first two years every game on the New xbox will be playable for the Xbox X. So I seriously doubt CDPR is doing this just for PS5. They will sell trillions of units on PC, which is their main target for this game. It will come to PS5 when it comes to PS5, why delay the came for that? It makes zero sense.

      1. delay the game… create more demand/hype = profit! I wholeheartedly support CDPR & their move, am just pissed that we’ll have to wait another 5 months.

    2. Do you also think it was just to create more hype when they delayed Witcher 3? I mean they said it was for the same reason they’re saying here, and W3 turned out pretty good iirc.

      1. it could also be that too, like creating more hype just by delaying! its April 18th & this game would’ve been a perfect lockdown/quarantine gift!

        1. Yea, but a W1 remake wouldn’t technically qualify as a triple A RPG. It’s more like a test project. That said, CDPR is big enough to bank on something like that. Especially if CP77 and it’s DLC’s are successful.

But my money’s on a sequel to the story from W3, a non-Geralt focused game where you create a new character based on the existing schools of Witchers (maybe magic users as well), with a new story by Sapkowski (who just signed a new deal with CDPR).

    1. Yeah where is ANOTHER medieval fantasy rpg, we aint got enough of those.

FACEPALM…. In fact DOUBLE FACEPALM, because what you said is soooo stupid i need extra facepalms.

      1. Like we aint got enough cyberpunk games. And those past and upcoming games have a lot more cyberpunk feel than this SJW trash.

          1. Deus Ex series, Shadowrun series, FC3 BD and lots of upcoming ones with an actual cyberpunk feel.

          2. Lol dude, deus ex is every conspiracy theory mixed into one, cyberpunk the paper rpg copied shadowrun and now we getting the game that the genre is made on, the fact you had to use those proves that we lack cyberpunk games.

  6. Muthatruckers! I’ve already planned out to take a couple weeks off to play it in April. Guess that’s not happening. Also I’d be very pissed if Nvidia 3000 GPUs release before the game comes out seeng that I’ve just upgraded from GTX970 to RTX2070 Super.

P.S. In this stupid letter written by PR heads they mention the “crowning achievement” the second time. And where have I heard it before? Oh right! In the Witcher 3 promo 2013 VGX trailer. And we all know what happened with the level of detail and visual fidelity showcased in that trailer.

  7. Just cancel this junk. Better games were canceled like Getaway 3, This Is Vegas, Pirates of the Carribbean 2010, The Outsider.

  8. if it’s delayed that’s fine. But just fricken work on it. Sick of seeing videos and screenshots and announcements of yada yada yada. i don’t care. just work on the game and shut up

  10. A list of bad choices (not exhausting):
-First they remove custom classes, then they cut the 2018 version of “Chippin’ In”,
-then they cave in to SJWs by removing the only two genders that exist in this world,
-after that they include wooden Keanu Reeves (who also “revealed” the release date that we now know was just carrot dangling) so that the game would be more about the star than player agency and choices,
-further down the line they don’t release 2019 gameplay video by making it exclusive to game shows attendees,
-now they postpone the game that was first teased in 2012-2013 further 6 months I guess to make Keanu the protagonist and you, the player, just the passenger as there were reports of Reeves’ role expanded which was not the original plan at all for the character.

  11. Id rather have a working game, that’s also complete than a Fkout 69 kind of experience on lunch day. Delays are not bad, its for our own good. We all complain how we hate buggy games or day 1 patches, well this is what you get if you complain about those, and trust me, it will be worth it.

A well cooked meal is way better than taking it out of the oven at 60%.

    1. What else will happen 7 months from now? Is this chic I’m dating finally going to let me put it in the a?

  12. Last year I said here that the April date seemed too early to me for a project of this side. A user here told me that who I was to say if a date was correct or not (I do not remember his name). I told him that I knew a little more about dates because I work in the video game industry, he didn’t believe me.
I saw more reasonable later this year (like november), well….it seems that it will almost be

  13. I’m probly just being sentimental, but I played W3 from day 1 and I do not remember any huge “launch issues” that caused me to a) stop playing, or b) have to play with non-ideal settings or features.

I remember people crying about downgrades because they wanted some cutscene from 3 years prior to be fully realized, but as far as post launch issues, there wasn’t any I recall. And I believe that was thanks to them delaying it a good 3-4 months, much like they’ve done again.

  14. to be fair i don’t care anymore like i was caring one year ago, i’m not even sad.

after realizing it’d be a pure fps gameplay wise the hype went downhill.
