The Surge 2 runs with more than 60fps in 4K/Max settings on NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti, does not feel smooth

Focus Home Interactive has just released The Surge 2 on the PC. As such, we’ve decided to share some 4K screenshots on max settings, as well as our initial 4K PC performance impressions. Our full fledged PC Performance Analysis will most likely go live tomorrow, so stay tuned for more.

In order to capture the following screenshots, we used an Intel i9 9900K with 16GB of DDR4 at 3600Mhz and an NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 436.30 driver.

The good news here is that The Surge 2 runs with 60fps in 4K and Max settings on the RTX2080Ti. However, it appears that the game is currently suffering from a lot of other technical issues.

For instance, the game was locking the framerate at 60fps each and every time we were launching it. The only way we could unlock the framerate was by selecting a different refresh rate. Not only that, but there are numerous effects that are locked at 30fps. This makes the game feel a bit weird.

On top of that, there are some frame pacing issues and the game never feels like a truly 60fps title. Even though the framerate was never dropping below 60fps, the game never felt smooth. Our guess is that this is due to its frame pacing issues. As such, Deck13 will have to release a post-launch performance patch in order to address these issues as soon as possible.

Enjoy the following screenshots and stay tuned for more!
