Path of Exile: Blight free expansion releases today on the PC

Grinding Gear Games announced today that the latest expansion to their award-winning RPG, Path of Exile: Blight, will launch today for the PC. As the press release reads, Path of Exile: Blight merges the exciting action combat of PoE with the strategy of classic tower defense games.

Path of Exile: Blight introduces a new NPC, Sister Cassia, who educates the player about the dangerous fungal grows that are spreading through Wraeclast. These growths infect and control the minds of nearby monsters, but Sister Cassia has built a pump that can drain the ichor from the growths to render them harmless. Players must deploy a range of towers to help protect the pump while it does its work.

As with all Path of Exile expansions, Blight introduces a wide selection of new skills, items and balance changes. Moreover, there will be significant revamps to a few key character archtypes; the Necromancer, the Poison Assassin and the Mine Saboteur.

Here are the key features of Path of Exile Blight.

  • Download and play for free, but never pay-to-win
  • A dark and deep action RPG
  • Unlimited character combinations with the game’s gigantic skill tree
  • Combine skill gems to create unique combat strategies
  • Explore a dark and gritty world rendered from a fixed 3D perspective
  • Explore randomly generated levels for nearly infinite replayability
  • Craft weapons, magic items and even end-game maps to become more powerful
  • Cooperate or compete with thousands of other Exiles in a persistent online world
  • Ascend online ladders in every game mode

Enjoy!

    1. There is next to no reason to play Diablo or any rpg of this type. Path of exile takes the crown in terms of gameplay, versatility and content.

      That’s my 2 cents tho.

        1. Yeah I agree, they are totally different can’t really compare them. Personally I love them both and they are probably the two best ARPGs ever made. You really have to own/play both of them(well POE is free LOL). Love the DX11 update they did to Grim Dawn a ways back it made it run and look massively better + the new expansion is rad.

Of course I will always love Diablo 2 and I still play it and I also really love Sacred 2 it owns as well and is an under ground fav of mine(been playing it for over a decade!).

          1. Some good memories!! I meant D3 when I said diablo in OP. D1 and D2 were better games than POE I believe.

      1. It was good a few years back, Now it’s just becoming too complex to enjoy.
Needs a balance between 3 games, Diablo 2,Grim Dawn and POE

      2. I’ve tried PoE so many times, yet it just hasn’t hooked me.

I really want to like it, but I just don’t.

  1. Wow, that is insane! Honestly who needs Diablo 4 at this point. I hate to be Blizzard right now, the more quality free content POE pumps out the further away and more work Blizzard is going to have to do if they want to compete.

Maybe this is why Blizzard coped out to do that mobile game, just saying. Grinding Gear Games will always have a legendary status in my books m/ 🙂 m/
