At PAX West 2019, DotEmu presented a new demo for Streets of Rage 4. As such, below you can find a video showing almost 8 minutes of gameplay footage from that demo. We strongly suggest watching this gameplay video, especially if you are old-school beat ’em up fans.
This video showcases some of the combos, as well as the game’s co-op mode. It will also give you a glimpse at its visuals, though there are some noticeable video artifacts. Still, it’s better than nothing, right?
Streets of Rage 4 is the first installment to the mainline series in more than two decades. The game promises to revitalize the iconic baddie-bashing gameplay with modern touches, fresh pulsing jams, and more surprises to be revealed.
The team behind Streets of Rage 4 is drawing from a lifetime of love for brawlers to introduce new fans and remind veterans alike why Streets of Rage is one of SEGA’s most beloved series.
Unfortunately, there is currently no ETA on when Streets of Rage 4 will come out.
Enjoy!

Looks pretty good but it’s going to have a hard time surpassing Fight’N Rage for me, now that game was awesome.
That game is superb!
This mobile version is quite nice.
Looking forward to see the consoles and PC version.

Haha ya, that was about my impression at one point.
“Why are they showcasing the Android version?”

Nice
Whoever decided it was a good idea to use the same katana jabbing motion with the meat cleaver is an idiot.
The music needs to be better…

It seriously lacks any charm. Why does it sound like you are punching a wet paper bag in your palm, when you hit someone with any attack? The hits carry no weight whatsoever, and the 2000’s “Flash” graphics look, was a terrible choice.
Ugh, I love SoR as much as the next person, but this just looks bad.
The biggest downer for me was the audio. The SoR franchise is renowned for its killer soundtrack on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis but this demo was lacking that in a big way. Even the sound effects, by way of the limp and feeble impact sounds, were lacking in the extreme.
I’m not wholly sold on the updated visuals either but they’re not terrible. That said, having a young woman (replete with SJW danger hair!) because current year as one of the protagonists in a street fighting game naturally made me facepalm.
Can’t wait to play it, looks good.
