Limbo is currently free on the Epic Store, Moonlighter & This War of Mine will be the next free games

This week the Epic Store partnership with third party developers has truly made a smash hit available for free. Danish studio, Playdead, has offered their atmospheric platformer, Limbo, as the next weekly freebie, and it is available today until July25th.

If there was ever an argument that platform games had to be fast and furious with no room for an enthralling atmosphere, Limbo would smash it out of the ballpark. This game took the indie scene by storm as it combined excellence in physics-based, puzzle solving, with rock-solid platforming gameplay.

All of this was wrapped up in one of the most entrancing and haunting worlds ever depicted in gaming without relying on fancy, new GPU technology (developers take note). Limbo not only inspired a sequel (Inside), it also set a new standard for games like Little Nightmares that would try to explore this newfound frontier of platform games.

Check it out here, or fire up your Epic Store client.

Trust me, you need to play this. Next week, Moonlighter and This War of Mine will replace Limbo as the next, available free games, and we will make sure to give you a heads up.

Enjoy!

  1. It’s a shame, because Limbo and This War of Mine really are fantastic games.

Man I wish they did this on Steam or GOG.

        1. No one said it was. This genius though is among the moron brigade that has an Epic hate b*ner for the Epic Store because reasons.

          1. I already had the Epic client (for the new Unreal Tournament), and I like free games. Most of the whining is hypocritical, Valve has kept its games exclusive to Steam since its inception, and its users are only renting.

I’m not worried about Epic’s bleeding cash to rent time-limited exclusives; If Epic’s store survives, the competition can only benefit the consumer.

          2. Valve has had its games exclusive to Steam since its inception, they can, at any moment, deny a customer access to his library, and they had become a de facto monopoly. They’re not doing consumers any favors.

GOG is the only real consumer-oriented PC game store. They’re worth defending.

        2. Ask a junkie if they thought there first free hit was harmful. Idiots are so easily roped in. In Epic’s case, it’s your consumer choice that you are throwing away.

          1. In Epic’s case, it’s your consumer choice that you are throwing away.

The idea that having another choice is throwing away your choice is an emotional position, not a rational one.

    1. Both of them were Free on Steam a year ago or so, in case of Limbo, it you have it on Steam you can get it on GOG as well, don’t know if that works with TWoM.

  2. at this point i’m certain that even free blowj*bs wouldn’t convince me to at least consider installing epic’s launcher.

  3. Agree, it’s an awesome game. Go get it and stop all that BS about Epic Store. They ar doing WONDERS for the devs and us!
I love what Tim are doing here. F*CK that FAT Gabe at STEAM!

    1. Please explain yourself: what kind of wonders is Tim doing for us by bribing devs and publishers for exclusivity? All I see is less choice, less features and higher prices for us as consumers.

  4. epic be like : steam dont give enough money to devs lets show them that we care about the devs
Also epic : releases games for free………
