EA may release remasters of the first Command & Conquer games, wants to bring the franchise back to PC

Jim Vessella, Producer at Electronic Arts, has revealed that Electronic Arts may release some remaster versions of the first Command & Conquer games. Moreover, and after the huge backlash regarding Command & Conquer: Rivals, EA appears to be willing to bring the franchise back to the PC with a new entry.

As Vessella said:

“As most of you may know, we recently announced Command & Conquer: Rivals, a mobile game set in the Command & Conquer universe. Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.”

Vessella claimed that over the next few weeks they will be talking to fans in a variety of ways, stating that they are eager to hear fans’ feedback to help influence their current thoughts for PC and what comes next.

I’m pretty sure that we can all agree that EA needs to avoid using microtransactions in this possible new entry of Command & Conquer, stay true to its real-time strategy nature (stay away from the LoL or Ground Control influences), offer a compelling story, and feature both a single-player and multi-player modes.

So yeah, these are some crucial things that EA needs to follow, otherwise most Command & Conquer fans – and PC gamers in general – won’t be bothered with this new C&C entry.

  1. Good. I hope they go for Tiberian Sun timeline and make an actual old school RTS with base building, and none of that MOBA nonsense like DOW:III.

  2. I don’t really want a remaster. Those games are still great. I play them every now and then. I’d much rather have a sequel. Have some ambition and do something new and interesting. Maybe we could have a space layer or something? I dunno, use your imagination.

  3. “exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games”
they meant that they’re going to see if it can be profitable and if it can turn into a game which can be milked to death aka cheeky microtransaction.

  4. i lost hope in EA long ago, and seeing how they monitizing their every games recently, this remaster will most definitely have some microtransactions

  5. the fact generals 2 didnt happen is a crime against humanity

Also there is a remake mod for generals but i never tried it.

    1. You, happy you for never touching such a garbage. Assets were leaked. A tower-defense game plays more decent.

  6. I’d love a remaster of the Tiberium Saga in the veins of Starcraft and Age of Empires, with redrawn sprites, ultra-wide support and modern gameplay.

  7. They are only doing this after the backlash from BF fans and C&C fans from back during summer, as well as their stock prices falling. They want tor recoup those millions of losses, so what better way to do it than to finally decide to milk the forgotten C&C fans…

I have zero faith in them for doing this. They only do this now when it suits them, not because of what we’ve spent years upon years asking for.

Certainly have zero faith in them being able to remaster the old £D games, making them 60fps and updated textures, without MT’s loaded into them.

  8. “As most of you may know, we…”

Stopped reading there. Dont care about anything EA PR spews and vomits trying to manipulate consumers and scam more. At this point they need to shut up and put out 10/10 content with ZERO microtransactions for at least a good solid 2 years before I even start to consider repurchasing their products. Listening to them is like listening to a thief trying to reason why he should be allowed in your home.

Also remasters = “loud and clear?” Really? But of course there’s always time to roll out remasters and a mobile games but not take some extra time for a new finely crafted game entirely (sans any monetization of course) after pissing off the C&C community so much. EA is rolling in cash and they wont even do this. Just remasters and a cellphone game.

    Just smmfh.

    1. They even gave us that crappy “you’ve gotta respect mobile games” speech, right after the C&C Rivals backlash…

These guys know they’ve screwed up bad and they don’t want to apologize for it, hence the “we’re listening” bs as usual. Same bs they are currently pulling with BF fans for BFV. This is a company that has reached it’s boiling point, and now resorts to empty promises and complete and utter PR speak.

  9. Sure I’ll take a remaster for a heavily discounted price, Ohhh you(EA) say?
EA- But I thought we could charge you full price for some updated textures and widescreen support?
    Me- GTFO!

  10. Nope. forget it, let it die, doesn’t matter what fan says, you will F**k it up and blame fans for it. don’t do anything, simple. the old games are still alive, leave them be.

It will be Always Online with couple more DRMs on top of it, There will be microtransactions, Mods are out of the window, but hey guys, we have a map editor, there will be Political s**t shoved into the game and they will lock it at 30fps.

  11. Unit A cost $10
    Unit B cost $15
    Fortress A cost $25
    Tower B cost $20
This is what will happen if they made this…

  12. Nothing EA offers and will offer in the future would make me trust them again with my money. It takes a special kind of stupid to f*k up so many games.
