The team behind the PS5 emulator, SharpEmu, has released a new version of it. According to its devs, SharpEmu v0.0.5-nexus includes Demon’s Souls, Astro Bot, GTA V, and more games with performance patches. So, let’s dive in.
SharpEmu v0.0.5-nexus brings many fixes and speed improvements to the emulator. The update improves memory handling on Linux and other POSIX systems. It also fixes pad input, CPU stack checks, and SHA instructions on PCs that do not support SHA.
Shader support also gets several fixes. These changes help games such as Little Nightmares, Little Nightmares III, Astro Bot, and Demon’s Souls. The update also improves shader speed and fixes issues with Vulkan and MoltenVK.
The update adds fixes for Gran Turismo 7 and adds new AvPlayer, Razor CPU, and network stubs. Astro Bot and Demon’s Souls also get performance improvements. GPU work includes faster shader translation, better stencil handling, and support for HDR output. The devs have also fixed Vulkan wave64 ballot masks.
SharpEmu also gets fixes for game data and file handling. PakDirectoryTracker can now handle folders with the same name. The kernel can return packed directory entries for Quake II. Indirect buffer links are also fixed.
GTA 5 gets a fix for its Gen5 shader resources. Computed shaders also get performance work. Furthermore, font support is improved with fixes for font face creation and better layout scaling.
Finally, the update changes the default GUI settings and adds new screenshots to the README.
Another interesting thing is that there is a 60 FPS patch for Bloodborne. I personally recommend using ShadPS4 for Bloodborne. Still, it’s really cool to see this PS5 emulator run Bloodborne. What’s also ironic here is that this is possible only on PC. Sony has not updated Bloodborne to run at 60 FPS on the real PS5 console.
Overall, SharpEmu v0.0.5-nexus focuses on better game support, faster GPU work, improved input, and more stable emulator behavior. You can go ahead and download it from this link.
As I have said many times, I still believe KyTyPS5 is in a better state than SharpEmu. One key difference is that KyTyPS5 is being developed with help from AI tools. As far as I know, SharpEmu does not use AI tools in its development.
Stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
