New in-engine footage for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic fan remake in Unreal Engine 4

Poem Studios and YouTuber ‘MrMattyPlays’ have revealed some new in-engine footage from the upcoming fan-made remake of the first Star Wars: KOTOR game in Unreal Engine 4, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Apeiron. Apeiron is described as an overhaul and restructure of the original game with added content, new worlds, missions, HUD, inventory, items, and customization.

Apeiron is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and once released it will be 100% free to the public. However, and contrary to other such projects, Apeiron will require the original game: Knights of the Old Republic as it will be needed to run it.

In Apeiron, players will travel to long forgotten planets, or get lost in the large sprawl of the cities, will feature many aspects from the original game (such as the pausable combat and the original flow of the story), as well as new features and ideas such as 1st & 3rd person camera viewpoints and deeper customization.

From the looks of it, this project is still in a very early stage and as with all fan remakes, we are not certain whether it will ever see the light of day. Still, it’s pretty cool so be sure to watch the video!
