In February 2023, YouTube’s ‘flames per second’ shared an amazing video, showcasing GTA San Andreas in Unreal Engine 5. And, a couple of days ago, the YouTuber shared another video, showcasing this time Grand Theft Auto 3 in UE5.
In order to create this fan remake, flames per second used a number of GTA5 mods. For instance, he ported the Liberty City Remix Mod in UE5. Additionally, he used Project FromThePast (which is a GTA III car pack), as well as updated 3D models for 8-Ball and Claude.
The video features 11 minutes of gameplay footage from it. There are also some basic gameplay mechanics. For instance, we can see the main protagonist driving numerous vehicles. As such, it can give you a pretty good idea of what a modern-day remake of this classic GTA game would look like. And, thanks to the advanced lighting techniques of UE5, this fan remake of GTA III looks amazing. My only gripe with this is the old-gen LOD system as this project does not take advantage of Nanite.
Sadly, I don’t expect the YouTuber to ever release this fan remake to the public. That kind of sucks but hey, it is what it is. At least you can watch 10 minutes of gameplay from it.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you may be also interested in these other videos. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. Earlier this month, we also shared a fan remake video of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in Unreal Engine 5, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9.
Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Death Stranding, Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Solitude, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1, Skyrim’s Winterhold and Skyrim’s Whiterun. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they’re all really cool, we suggest giving them a watch.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Don’t get your mind blowing if it’s gets taken down though lol
Prob the first “fan made in UE5” that does not look janky asf, lol. Impressive.
This looks more like they used 4 as a base not 3, yeah I realize they’re supposed to be the same city but those landmarks and such are 4 not 3. There is no statue island in 3 and etc UE5 isn’t that great, play Stray made in UE4 it looks amazing just as good as any UE5 game I’ve played and that’s all without rtpt, the dev and their willingness to put the work in matters more,
The plus for these lazy greedster devs is that it limits modding, just look at the number of mods for non-UE games vs UE games, no more free game extending stuff just buy a new game!
And of coures joannasteinberg here has some financial motive for spamming UE5 articles, prob uses chatgpt or some other AI to “write” these also.
Honest question does Epic pay for this kind of articles because if not, really its just free publicity at this point.
John has some financial incentive to spam this Unreal crap. Maybe he gets more Google clicks.
If not, John has a psychological problem, spamming hundreds of Unreal Engine articles without incentive would be insane.
Sure sure, they pay us millions. No, scratch that. Billions 😛
Finaly, you admit it, I knew it.
4090 won’t pay for itself you know :D.
Obv jk
welcome to news websites. have you just discovered the internet?
Yes, they do “pay” (in one way or another) to a lot of websites for promotional articles.
How is it called gta remake? A dead city that you drift?
This is the most insane clickbait ever.
If you took 5 seconds to read the video description, this is NOT UE5, it’s modded GTA 5.
If you read the article (and the video description), you’d know that he ported the GTA 5 mods to UE5 in order to make the project. Basically, he didn’t create anything from the ground-up, and he used the mods in UE5 as a starting point. This is a UE5 project. It takes, as you said, 5 seconds to realise it. But I guess reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.
Mate you are truly stupid.
“This remake was made with GTA 5 PC Mods”
This is modded GTA 5 with a custom map.
“ported GTA 5 mods to UE5” do you even realize how stupid that is and how it logically does not work? How do you port mods made for GTAV to an empty game engine?
He puts UE5 in the title for clickbait, as if this it what it “might” look like in UE5.
Firstly, you can easily port the map and the mods to UE5. Seriously, sometimes it’s best to stop talking when you don’t know what you’re talking about. Secondly, you clearly haven’t even played GTA5 if you think its lighting, reflections and shadow systems look anything like what you see in this video. You do you though.
You can easily make GTA V look this way with some of the more recent popular ENB mods. You can literally tell it’s modded GTA V.
It’s sad that you attempt to pass yourself off as a games journalist or whatever when you don’t understand the most basic things.
Really? Just read the vídeo description.
Unless these are complete finished projects, who honestly cares about yet another tech demo
why are all the cars squeaky clean. looks so fake
Teamwork reflecting a successful marketing technology stack – each element working harmoniously.
This is GTA V with mods. Read the vídeo description.
