The Witcher 3 First Person

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks really cool in first-person mode

CDPR’s forum member ‘skacikpl‘ is currently working on a first-person mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and has released a new video in order to showcase it. The modder claimed that the current version of his first-person mod will be released soon, so stay tuned for more. Until then, enjoy the video after the jump!

UPDATE:

Since there is a lot of confusion. The top image is not from the mod (as pointed out by Olek). This image was captured by IMGUR’s member ‘brotherbeck‘ (by re-positioning the camera viewpoint), and was used to showcase the first-person perspective.

The mod will most probably support first-person combat, and will most probably look similar to the following video.

For the time being, the first-person mode is it automatically turned off when Geralt draws his sword. Whether this will change in the public release remains to be seen.

  1. Always found it way cooler to get to see your character, but nevertheless it’s an interesting mod

  2. This looks fantastic. Main screen at the top looks official. Almost like the FP mode in GTA 5. This will be amazing if it can be done without clipping.

    1. Main screen at the top is not from the mod. That was done by freezing the game and repositioning the camera and taking a picture. There will be no first person combat.

      1. Crap, would have loved to have gone first person through the whole game. Great job regardless. And didn’t see the part saying that wasn’t a rreal screen

          1. great work on making the mod not clip when moving. its perfect from what i can see. would be awesome if horse riding was including but regardless, another way to see this beautiful game.

        1. I know Skacik and his work and I’ve been on that thread since the start.
That’s an old post from the first Beta he released. First person combat will not be supported, it will be turned off in the release, he might throw in a command to force it on but it’s almost unplayable.
And it most certainly doesn’t look anywhere near as nice as the picture at the top of the article.

    2. As said, the main screen is not from this mod (but was used as it shows the FP perspective)

    1. He has many Jars full of coin. Go to the bank my little lad… go there and deposit swear jar monies haha

    1. Combat is fine, problem is too many people have problems because they either don’t know how to re-map keys or don’t read the skills descriptions and end up banging their heads against a wall.

      1. nah its that Batman-esque combat, i mean its just mashing keys its not a issue of keybinds, there is zero skill and depth involved.

        1. Mashing? lol, then you are def doing it wrong, probly based on either of the 2 reasons listed above.

          1. i actually did the entire game through, mashing buttons the entire way through, there is zero skill to combat in this game. Helll it even autoturns you and moves to your closest target if there isn’t anything in front of you. Skilless! The fact that combat doesn’t work in 1st person COMPLETELY proves my point!

Combat in W2 was FAR superior. Hell even the combat in W1 was superior as it at least took timing and preparation, and punished button mashing.

          2. W2’s combat was better but W3 is 90% the same. Fighting 4 wraiths or a self healing warewolf wasn’t easy. Ofc the common enemies weren’t that hard, but even they could take almost half of you health with one hit.

    2. Completely disagree. I thought it has been one of the best systems to come out in recent years.

  3. I wont install it for so long! I have to play my other logs games in STEAM!

Feeling guilty as CS GO and Witcher 3 were taking much of my spare time to play games!

  4. skacikpl, one of the best modders in the W3 community. Has contributed a large number of great mods, many of which I use. He does so much, even customizing sub-packages of his mods for specific members and helping out other authors on their projects.

One of the people that, if CDPR ever released full mod support, would truly make something special, I absolutely believe that.
