New version of RPCS3 brings huge performance improvements in Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3, Uncharted and more

The team behind the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3, has released a new video showing the huge performance and graphics improvements of its latest version in triple-A games such as Red Dead Redemption, God of War 3 and Uncharted.

The amazing news here is that Uncharted is now almost playable as it can be played with almost 30fps, something that wasn’t possible in previous versions.

God of War 3 on the other hand still remains unplayable, however, there are now less artifacts and glitches.

Red Dead Redemption saw a small performance boost, however it’s nowhere close to being playable. As we’ve already said, it will take a lot of work to make this game work properly and it may not be playable (meaning 30fps) until 2019. Or at least that’s our guess.

Still, these are really exciting steps towards emulating some of the best Playstation 3 games to date, so we have to congratulate the RPCS3 for its dedication.

Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

  1. I cant wait for it to be playable and perfectly emulated,i how we will be able to also mod it to make it closer to the 360version higher quality foliage, textures, reflections and shadows and disable the dreadfull QAA the ps3 version use and use msaa like the 360 version

  2. I cannot wait to see Red Dead with antialiasing. I absolutely hate consoles’ jagged edges.

      1. >Xbox One X
Lol not spending money on an expensive paperweight that only slightly shapens the image.

      2. LOL just wait 6 more months and RDR will be fully playable on PC. In the past 6 months they fixed about all rendering errors and graphical glitches and more than doubled the framerate.

      1. I’m pretty sure that’s a really old misconception. The amount of aliasing visible is based on three factors: Resolution, screen size and viewing distance in relation to each other. 4K on a mobile phone versus 4K on a 80″ 4K TV, who will provide more aliasing at armlength viewing distance? I can tell you this, aliasing is visible on a 23.4 inch 4K monitor at normal viewing distance.

  3. These guys have been making amazing progress with this emulator, no doubt about it… Nonetheless, it should be pointed out that in order to achieve the framerates shown in this video, you need a really beefy cpu… IIRC, they´re using an highly overclocked i7 8700k… If you’re using something like an old sandy bridge, or any cpu that doesn’t support TSX, than the performance will be much slower than what is shown here… Anyway, this is still in early stages, and they’ve been working tirelessly… What they have achieved so far is way beyond what i thought would be possible with current hardware…

      1. Hate to say it but that’s not the definitive version. The definitive version will be on PC, soon 🙂 4K mmmmmhhh, anti-aliasing mmmmmgh, RESHADE mmmmhmmmhmmhmmm, mods mMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

        1. I hope so too some day. Ultrawide (21:9), Ultra settings, ReShade, Nvidia Game Filter, 60+ fps, Mouse/Keyboard, Mods

  4. And Rockstar still ignore pc gamer begging to Port this game…seems they don’t like pc gamer money

  5. Where’s Spectro/Spencer by the way? Haven’t seen him in a while. Almost starting to miss that little buggah! xD

      1. Spending circa $1500 on Microsoft’s consoles plus the price of buying games in one console generation… but at least you get to play a last-gen console game in “True 4K” with the old Xbox 360 textures, LOD, low polygon count geometry and shadow resolution that’s all still running at a pitiful 30fps.

        Well done you! ? ? ?
