Ah, the good old classic Unreal. Such an amazing experience, even for today’s standards. Actually, in some ways its better than today’s games, given the fact that it is not as a scripted mess as most modern-day FPS titles. On the other hand, the storytelling is awful but who really cares, right? Back then it was all about the eyecandy graphics, the incredible AI, the mesmerizing levels, the gorgeous characters and the combat mechanics. A while ago, we posted some images of an upcoming map for Crysis 2 that would be based on Epic Games’ classic FPS game, Unreal. Modder ‘Cleric’ has released some new screenshots from his on-going work and we are happy to bring them to you. The map has been tweaked and looks better than before. Back in the Quake 2 days, Unreal was bashed to death. I tell you guys, there were lots of PC gamers that hated it (my guess is that they bashed it because their PC systems could not run it). Ironically, these days it is considered one of the best FPS titles and we are glad to see most of those naysayers admitting that it was way ahead of its time. Man, I still remember the first encounter with the Scaarj. Or when you got out of the spaceship and admired that beautiful, huge level with the waterfall. Those were some pretty impressive visuals.
