Resident Evil 4 – Beta Patch V.1.0.5 Adds Specular Highlights & Bump Mapping Effects

Resident Evil 4 – New Comparison Between Ultimate HD & SD Editions

The Ultimate HD Edition of Resident Evil 4 will hit Steam later this month, and Capcom decided to release yet another comparison between this and the standard edition. As we can clearly see below, Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition looks similar but better than its SD brother. There are noticeable differences on textures, and contrary to the first PC version, this one will support mouse+keyboard and will run with 60fps. Well, we gotta admit that Capcom has indeed included some HD textures for the PC Ultimate HD Edition of Resident Evil 4 that is planned for release next month. Capcom has released some comparison screenshots between the vanilla and the Ultimate HD Edition of Resident Evil 4, while Steam’s member ‘MarkfromTheRoom’ has made a comparison between the Wii version (running on Dolphin) and the PC Ultimate HD Edition of Resident Evil 4. Ever wondered what would have happened if Resident Evil 4 met Doom? No? Yes? Either way, today we present you Doom: The Mercenaries, a mod that brings Resident Evil 4 to id Software’s classic shooter, Doom. This mod features a sprite model for Leon, a third-person perspective, as well as some finishing kick and evading moves. It looks spectacular, so be sure to check it out. Capcom is ashamed and wants to forget that awful PC port of Resident Evil 4

Wow, now this is something interesting. We’ve known for a fact that the PC port of Resident Evil 4 was awful, since its development was outsourced to Sourcenext, but it’s shocking to hear that Capcom is so ashamed of it, that they’d prefer to simply forget about it and not make it available to any digital stores. Yes, Resident Evil 4 was one of the worst ports we’ve ever seen and in par with Sourcenext’s other PC ports, like Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, but we certainly didn’t expect that reaction from Capcom.
