This mod noticeably improves Fallout: New Vegas’ LOD (Level of Detail)

One of the biggest issues of all Gamebryo and Creation Engine games (from Oblivion and Skyrim to Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4) is their mediocre LOD. Due to the way these engines work, the horizon in the aforementioned games is full of blurry textures and lacks many details/objects. Obsidian Entertainment has announced that Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is now planned for a May 8th release. The game was originally meant to come out next month, on April 3rd, however the team needed a bit more time in order to further polish it. Obsidian’s artist is recreating Star Wars: Dark Forces’ first level in Unreal Engine 4 and it looks absolutely gorgeous

Jason Lewis, Senior Environment Artist at Obsidian Entertainment, has been experimenting with Unreal Engine 4. Lewis is currently recreating the first level from the 1999 Star Wars game, Dark Forces, in Epic’s Engine and shared some comparison screenshots between the original and his WIP project. It’s no secret that multi-platform games are limited by the hardware of consoles; a limitation that’s not present on the PC as developers can push things as much as they want.
