Black Mesa – Mod Version (2012) versus Retail Version (2015)

Imgur’s member ‘NateDGreat3‘ has released some interesting comparison screenshots between the 2012 and the 2015 versions of Black Mesa. As we’ve already said, the retail version of Black Mesa is powered by a new engine and these screenshots showcase some of the improvements that were introduced thanks to it. Black Mesa Team Reveals That the Highly Anticipated Xen Levels Won’t Be Coming to the Mod Version

In a recent Reddit AMA, Black Mesa’s multiplayer level designer Joe R, revealed that the highly anticipated Xen levels for Black Mesa will be only coming to the paid version. Joe R claimed that it’s currently impossible to add these levels in the mod version of Black Mesa as Xen will be built on the new engine that powers Black Mesa Steam. Black Mesa is considered one of the best mods ever released on the PC. Although the mod has not been completed yet, Valve has made an offer to the development team that could not be refused. First screenshots for Black Mesa: Insecurity, fan-made remake of Half-Life: Blue Shift

The team behind Black Mesa: Insecurity, a a re-imagining of the Half-Life expansion Blue Shift, created for the Source engine mod Black Mesa, has released the first screenshots for it. This mod is being created by two gamers, and is 33% complete. There is still no ETA yet, but the duo is working hard to finish it.
