GTA 4 RTX Remix Path Tracing WIP Mod-3

Take a look at Grand Theft Auto 4 with RTX Remix Path Tracing

Modder ‘xoxor4d ‘ is currently working on an RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Grand Theft Auto 4. While there is no ETA on when the mod will come out, we have some screenshots from it, shared by Resetera’s gabdeg. And, as you will see, it already looks incredible.

This RTX Remix Mod will add real-time Path Tracing to this classic GTA game. Path Tracing will handle pretty much everything, from reflections to shadows and lighting. In my opinion, this is how you remaster a game. Hear that, dear devs?

What’s also incredible here is that these screenshots are with the vanilla assets. There aren’t any new textures or PBR materials. So, in theory, the game can look even better than this.

As I said, there’s no ETA on when the mod will come out. From what I know, xoxor4d’s Patreon members currently have access to a test build. My guess is that we’ll see a public version once the modder has polished it further. So, maybe we’ll get it around Christmas?

These past few months, we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods. So, you can find mods for Black MesaStar Wars Republic CommandoNFS: Underground, and Manhunt. You can also find some for BioShockMorrowindNFS: Underground 2Star Wars Jedi OutcastMax PayneUnreal, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.

In January 2024, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2,  Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most WantedTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, and Midnight Club 2. Be sure to also check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New VegasTom Clancy’s Splinter CellCOD 2, and Half-Life.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus ExTomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for Painkiller and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and don’t forget to try this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Lastly, you can download these amazing Path Tracing Mods for DoomDoom 2Quake, and Serious Sam.

    1. The mod breaks a bunch of stuff right now, the police car in the photos is clearly missing a bunch of the texture detail on the body and the siren.

      1. Ah so it’s the usual texture streaming issues that plague anyone trying to up the quality of GTA4, and John claimed this is a real remaster, the dummy.

  1. Grand Theft Auto 4 with RTX Remix Path Tracing also known as How to destroy all the style the original game had.

  2. It's sad that the old game looks better with mods and is better than anything they released this year. The gaming industry no longer produces quality games, it did until the existence of the PS3 console, but since then everything has started to decline and today only garbage is produced. Just look at Battlefield 6 and people are still happy that they got an update to Battlefield 3 for full price and the Campaign in 2025 is worse and unfinished than in 2011.

  3. Hey John, you mentioned in a post in the past that someone fixed the windows bugs with a gta 4 patch, do you remember what that version of the game was called?

  4. I think they should remaster this and update it for modern systems, for the story and gritty crime drama it's the best one imo but prob tied with San Andreas for me. Mobile is amazing, plug and play w xbox controller to your phone I've been amazed at how far mobile gaming has come. silksong etc already works fine on phones.
