Forza Motorsport new feature

Can the NVIDIA RTX4090 run Forza Motorsport in Native 4K/Ultra Settings/Full Ray Tracing with 60fps?

Microsoft has released Forza Motorsport in Early Access and there has been some criticism over its PC performance. So, since MS has not provided us with a review code, we’ve decided to purchase its Ultimate Edition and test it. Can the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 run the game in Native 4K with Ultra Settings and Full Ray Tracing while maintaining 60fps? Time to find out.

For these early PC benchmarks, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 537.42 driver. Moreover, we’ve disabled the second CCD on our 7950X3D.

Turn10 has included a built-in benchmark tool that we’ll be using for our upcoming CPU and GPU benchmarks. The benchmark scene is at night in rainy conditions with lots of cars on screen. This is an ideal stress test scenario, similar to the one we’ve been using in all other racing games.

At Native 4K/Ultra Settings/Full Ray Tracing, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 can push a minimum of 79fps and an average of 84fps. So yeah, contrary to some early PC performance reports, the game can run buttery smooth on a high-end PC system. Furthermore, we did not experience any stutters during our testing phase.

Before continuing, I should note that similar to the Xbox version, the PC version does not feature RTGI. Forza Motorsport currently features only ray-traced ambient occlusion and reflections. However, Turn10 has stated that it plans to bring RTGI via a post-launch update.

The PC version also supports DirectStorage, and will pre-compile its shaders when you first launch it.

With NVIDIA DLAA, the RTX 4090 drops to 76fps/80fps. Still, NVIDIA’s high-end GPU is able to provide more than 60fps in this demanding benchmark scene. And, with DLSS Quality, we get a small performance boost.

This small DLSS Quality boost also falls in line with what Turn10 has stated about Forza Motorsport. According to the developers, both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR may not give the expected performance boost on PC. This is a Known Issue, and Turn10 is currently looking into it.

So there you have it, everyone. While Forza Motorsport does appear to have some issues, it can certainly run smoothly on a high-end PC system. And yes, even with full Ray Tracing, the NVIDIA RTX4090 can provide a smooth-as-butter gaming experience.

Our PC Performance Analysis for Forza Motorsport will go live once the game launches on October 10th. In this article, we’ll examine the game’s performance on multiple AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, so stay tuned for more!
