Terraria and The Binding of Isaac coming to retail in 2012

Great news for all indie fans out there, as Headup Games announced today that they are securing the worldwide retail publishing & distribution rights for the Collector’s Edition of Terraria as well as the European rights to The Binding of Isaac. This is awesome as a lot of PC gamers want a box version of their games and some of them are not even bothered with buying their digital versions. Blacklight Retribution – Developer Diary 3

Perfect World Entertainment and Zombie Studios released the third developer diary for their upcoming free-to-play FPS, Blacklight Retribution, in which the developers talk about the game’s gadgets and gear. Blacklight Retribution is coming exclusively on the PC and promises to set the new standard for free-to-play shooters, by fully leveraging Unreal 3 technology and implementing DirectX 11 to give gamers cutting-edge graphics that will blow away expectations as well as minds. Battlefield 3 updates coming today on all platforms

DICE and Electronic Arts have just informed us – via Battlefield 3’s Facebook page – that they will roll out new updates for their game that will affect PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players. As a result of that, there will be a maintenance at 2 AM PDT and will last until 3 AM PDT. During this maintenance, Battlelog and online multiplayer services for PC will be unavailable, whereas online multiplayer services for PS3 and XBOX 360 may experience intermittent issues over the hour-long period. DOTA 2, Stronghold 3 and inMomentum Updates Released

Great news for owners of Stronghold 3 and inMomentum as a new update has rolled out for both of them. In addition, DOTA 2 beta testers can get their hands on a new build as Valve released a new update for it that features lots of additions and fixes. Those patches will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client and you can view the entire changelogs for all three of them after the jump. Now here is a pretty interesting mashup that we’ve just spotted on Jest. This video could be basically considered a response to Rockstar’s official GTA V trailer and shows what would happen if the game was based on the Super Mario series. It’s a nice ‘versus’ and we are sure that you will enjoy it. GTA V is slated for a 2012 release on current generation consoles and PC. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Patriots – Target footage is disappointing to say the least

A few days ago, we posted an editorial about how all those dreadful scripted events are killing the gaming experience. Seems that we should had also added all those annoying QTEs that were used heavily in God of War. These QTEs are not immersive and have no place in modern-day games as they can be easily replaced by clever, real-time, gameplay ideas. Seriously developers, we are not watching movies. We are playing games and this is definitely not the right way to create dramatic or cinematic scenes. An adventure game like Heavy Rain can get away with this. But the sequel to one of the best tactical FPS games to be filled with QTEs? Seriously now Ubisoft? Oh the horror. BF3 Config Utility v1.4 – Config Your Graphics Settings Without Entering The Game

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it: I love modders. TechPowerUp’s user ‘Mindweaver‘ released a handy utility that lets you edit and config Battlefield 3’s graphical settings without entering the game. Now this is a crucial little program and one I was looking forward to. Why should I enter the game in order to change my settings?
