Tekken 8 feature

To no one’s surprise, Tekken 8 is still filled with cheaters

In February 2024, we reported on the many pluggers and cheaters that you will encounter in Tekken 8. And, you know what happened in a whole year? NOTHING. Bandai Namco has done nothing to fix its game. In fact, and to the surprise of no one, things got even worse.

Let’s start from the beginning. In February 2024, I shared some videos that showcased some of the gameplay bugs that Tekken 8 suffered. And now, one whole year later, these bugs are still present in the game. Not only that, but I’ve discovered even more. For instance, when Yoshimitsu makes his unblockable low move, your low-punch will NOT hit him. Even though it’s quicker. The game will not register the hit so you’ll simply hit the air and then get hit by the unblockable.

With all those videos, you’d expect Bandai Namco to at least fix some of them. But nope, all of them are still present in the latest version of the game.

As I wrote back then, I’ve encountered a lot of people who could make 1-frame blocks which is humanly impossible. Go ahead and look at the Hwoarang bait-combo (it’s the second video). I’ve seen the exact same 1-frame block in all ranks. I’ve seen people in low ranks breaking all different throws. I’ve seen pluggers. I’ve seen everything that most who have played T8 online have experienced. And, believe it or not, things got even worse.

A few days ago, Mike Hollow and Blackheart59 exposed a group of Tekken 8 cheaters. This group had – and still has – a Discord server via which they share the cheats. And, after two whole weeks, these cheaters can still play Tekken 8. Bandai Namco has done NOTHING to fix this issue.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Tekken 8 needs an anti-cheat software protection. Because, right now, it’s not worth at all playing Ranked. Things get way better in Quick Play. Still, you will find some cheaters and pluggers even there. Which is ironic as Quick Play does not earn you any points. But hey, once a cheater, always a cheater.

Not only that, but yesterday Mike Hollow shared another video in which he showcased how you can slow down the game so that your opponent can drop his combo. That, or you can use that method to stop a match – in which you’re about to lose – without losing points at all.

At this point, the online mode of Tekken 8 is busted. And you know what’s the saddest part of this? These “cheating issues” were already present in Tekken 7. Everyone knew about the pluggers or the cheaters using macros. Or the cheaters who can auto-duck every hit. Or the cheater that can break every throw. And Bandain Namco has done NOTHING to address it. In fact, the ones that have made major progress are the cheaters themselves. Their programs got even more complex and sophisticated.

Bandai Namco will kick off Season 2 of Tekken 8 in April. Sadly, though, they haven’t announced any measures to address the cheating issues. I mean, I get it. The team has to first fix some fundamental gameplay issues. It also needs to re-balance some characters. Then, it has to create some new “OP” characters to sell them as DLCs. And as for the cheaters and pluggers… Bandai Namco doesn’t give a damn. Because if it finds a way to permanently ban them, the player numbers will drop significantly. And that’s not what the devs and publisher want!
