The Evil Within – PC Version Officially Locked At 30FPS, Debug Options Will Unlock Framerate & Aspect Ratio

And the moment of truth has arrived. Bethesda has just confirmed that the PC version of The Evil Within will be locked at 30fps, though the company will provide some debug options via which players will be able to unlock the framerate. Now this is good and bad news.

The good news is that there will be a workaround to bypass this framerate limitation. The bad news is that – and especially given the game’s official requirements – this may very well turn into another Dead Rising 3.

As Bethesda stated:

“Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango designed The Evil Within to be played at 30fps and to utilize an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 for all platforms. The team has worked the last four years perfecting the game experience with these settings in mind. For PC players, we’ll provide debug commands on how you can alter the framerate and aspect ratio, but these commands and changes are not recommended or supported and we suggest everyone play the game as it was designed and intended for the best experience.”

So there you have it. A game designed and intended to be played at 30fps for the ‘best experience’.

Hilarious stuff to say the least!
