Volition announced today that the PC version of Saint Row: The Third won’t be a mere port – like pretty much all of their previous games. Contrary to Saints Row 2, Volition decided to develop the PC version in-house, so that the PC version will be at the same level of playability as the console versions. In addition, the PC version will feature some exclusive features that are detailed after the jump.
According to Volition, the Steam version of Saints Row: The Third will feature the Saints Video Record Mode, allowing you to record and save your most over-the-top gameplay clips, which you are free to share on social media sites and on the game’s official site.
Moreover, the PC version will receive exclusive customization options, including oversized bobblehead masks of characters from Valve’s Team Fortress 2. Interesting idea and the fact that they will be free is a bonus but come on. They are a bit meaningless, right?
Moving on, Saints Row: The Third PC will include AMD Eyefinity support, DX9, DX10, and DX11 support, Crossfire enabled, SLI enabled, advanced depth of field, reflections, and ambient occlusion quality, and, of course, God Rays. Now I have to make it clear that in Volition’s previous game, Red Faction: Armageddon, SLI didn’t work. What’s more frustrating is that Volition didn’t bother with it and ironically, SLI was working fine in Red Faction: Guerrilla. Figures!
