A brand new version of the PlayStation 5 emulator for PC, KytyPS5, has just been released. This new version improves performance in Demon’s Souls Remake by 100%. However, there is a catch.
You see, with the previous version, Demon’s Souls Remake was running at 1 FPS. Now, with version 0.3.0, it runs at 2 FPS. So, while we get double the performance, the game is far from being playable.
The fact that the PS5 emulator can launch and run Demon’s Souls Remake is already impressive. For the PS5 emulation scene, this performance improvement is also huge. For the average user, though, this may seem like a nothingburger.
It’s also worth noting that over the past couple of days, KyTyPS5 has received a lot of updates. The fact that we got this performance boost in just two days is incredible. If the team keeps working on it, we might be able to run Demon’s Souls Remake at 30 FPS in the first half of 2027.
Needless to say, you will still need a high-end PC system to run it. Those 2FPS I mentioned above? You’ll get them with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. So, make no mistake. You won’t be able to run Demon’s Souls Remake, or any PS5 game, on a mid-tier PC system anytime soon.
Another game that can boot and run for a short time is Stray. On an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, its starting area runs at around 8 FPS. Sadly, though, the game crashes within a few seconds.
Those are the two PS5 games I’ve seen people test with this new version of KyTyPS5. Sadly, no one has tested GTA 5 yet. So, I don’t know if it runs much better than in τηε previous version.
But anyway, if you want to experiment with the emulator, you can go ahead and download it from this link.
Right now, I consider KyTyPS5 to be better than SharpEmu. For a long time, the best PS5 emulator was SharpEmu. But now, I believe KyTyPS5 has surpassed it. Still, if you also want to try SharpEmu, you can download it from here.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
