The team behind the best PlayStation 4 emulator, shadPS4, has released a new version of it. Version 0.12.6 comes with big performance upgrades, especially in Bloodborne. As such, this is the perfect time to experience this PS4-only game on PC.
YouTube’s ‘ProteinGaming’ has shared a comparison video between V0.12.5 and V0.12.6. As we can see, Bloodborne runs significantly faster in version 0.12.6. In some cases, the performance doubles. Thus, owners of weaker GPUs will now be able to run and enjoy Bloodborne on their PCs.
For the ultimate Bloodborne PC experience, you can also use Bloodborne PC Remaster Mod V0.93. You can also use another mod that unlocks its framerate. These two mods are essential for those who want to play Bloodborne on PC.
Speaking of Bloodborne, here are two other cool mods for it. The first mod is Bloodborne Magnus Opus. Bloodborne Magnus Opus is a project that aims to restore content that was cut from the game. Then we have a first-person mod. By using it, you can play Bloodborne in first-person mode. This is a cool way to replay the game if you have already finished it.
Another game that saw improvements is God of War 3 Remastered. From what I can see, the game’s prologue is almost perfectly emulated. I can’t see any visual issues, and performance appears to be great. Later stages still have visual glitches, though. So, this isn’t 100% emulated yet. Still, we’re getting there.
Driveclub seems to run and look as good as it did in V0.12.5. The game still appears to have some bottlenecks, and you can’t get 60FPS even on a high-end PC system. Still, you can game at 30FPS on a high or mid-tier PC (which was how the game ran on PS4). Not only that, but there doesn’t appear to be a lot of visual issues.
The Last Guardian is another game that looks great on version V0.12.6. It’s not 100% perfect, but it looks and runs better than ever. Infamous: Second Son also saw some visual improvements.
Overall, the shadPS4 team has done an amazing job. Thanks to their hard work, PC players can now enjoy Bloodborne on PC. Yes, the game was already playable in older versions of the emulator. However, Version 0.12.6 gives you smoother and much better performance. And that’s exactly what most of us wanted.
You can go ahead and download shadPS4 from this link. Do note that the latest public version is V0.12.5. Version 0.12.6 is a pre-release version. To download it, you’ll have to set Update Channel to Nightly. Then, you’ll be able to download V0.12.6 (which is codenamed “turtle2”).
Have fun!

Remember when I said Gow3 will be playable better than rpcs3…its almost there and not even a year has passed. The progress of the this emulator is insane
It's not better yet, i see some slowdowns in this video while on RPCS3 and i get 60 fps at all time in 4K with, but it will potentially i think, such a bummer that there's infinitely more interesting games in PS3 than PS4.
Just have a look at the resource usage and the fps drops and then compare it with rpcs3. There is less usage and less stuttering. Give it some time and it will shine beautifully. And there are just handful of ps3 exclusive games that are actually good to play. Shame they will never get ported to PC though
“Give it some time and it will shine beautifully”
Sure, i already said it will potentially be better than the RPCS3 experience, i also think RPCS3 is fantastic given all the context, if you have a decent CPU it is mostly good and enjoyable and infinitely more refined and accurate than Xenia, people should be a bit indulgent with it, a colossal amount of hard work has been put into it.
Ofc., rpcs3 is now quite optimized too. Titles like shadow of colossus, ico, tekken tag, kill zone and many more run on a 10y old cpu and with old 1060 at 1440p full speed. I played some this year and was amazed how smooth they were and without any glitches. It's only the BIG exclusives that have issues running smoothly and because everyone wants to play exclusives obviously they see it's not running good = emulator not yet ready. They're partially right too. Maybe in future just like pcsx2, rpcs3 will be a cake on every pc
Curious if you can play ps3 games such as Gow Ascension
Is there any upside to play the PS4 version? Don't they have almost the same graphics? Why not playing it on RPCS3?
GOW Ascension is not on PS4, only on PS3.
You must've mistaken that with GOW 3 which had a remaster on PS4.
There is a problem with RPCS3 when increasing the internal render resolution, native it’s 720p which is quite low, I prefer at least 1080p or ideally 1440p or more depending on the screen size
Some weird white spots appear around Kratos and the enviroment of the game, possibly a lighting bug
There is a fix as shown here, but it decreases framerate by about 40% to 50% on a ryzen 9 7900x (not sure about newer models)

The Bloodborne video shows the FPS to be TRIPLE in some cases near the end. I'm thinking a big part of it is better VRAM management. Whatever the case, this is an amazing improvement!
Great news for those interested in the technical prowess.
Personally, I think that emulation makes sense up to the Xbox 360 era.
(The 360 has unique shmups versions which you can't find even in the latest PC releases)
So, around the mid-2000s.
Anything beyond that is usually useless, as you can get better experience with PC ports 99% of the time.
Frankly, most good PS4/PS5/Xbox Series games are on PC.
There are some exceptions, but even those are totally skippable.
Now, if it were possible to add some QoL features like quicksaves, maybe I would be interested. It could make some stealth games more enjoyable than on PC.
Not gonna happen though. Even PS3/360 emulators don't have stable working saving systems.
To me, the very last great emulator is PCSX2. This one is so great that it makes inferior PS2 ports even more enjoyable than their PC counterparts.
That's what an emulator is supposed to do. Improve the gaming experience to a point where it becomes the "definitive" version.
"Frankly, most good PS4/PS5/Xbox Series games are on PC.

Hard disagree. That's highly subjective and personal.
Looks very impressive…
Have they fixed the floor textures vanishing yet?
Also, does this 0.12.6 apply to the diegolix BB fork, as well?
Hi there friend! You mention my youtube channel here but you didn't link the actual video! Could you share it as well? Thanks
Also "Turtle2" was a custom name I gave that build! Actually if you just select pre-release you are good to go. You will get the most recent build with these upgrades! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gcDonJf-4c&t
