Ubisoft has just revealed its latest financial results and according to them, the PC platform is the third most profitable platform for the French publisher. The first one is PS4, followed by “Other” platforms (mainly mobile devices) and then we find the PC. The PC has managed to surpass all old-gen consoles, as well as Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Back in October, Ubisoft claimed that PC gamers are important to it and that it’s committed to addressing their needs.
“PC gamers are important to Ubisoft, and we’re committed to better understanding and addressing their needs and to continually improving our relationship with them.” said Ubisoft consumer and marketing director Sandrine Caloiaro.
It’s interesting comparing Ubisoft’s Q2 and Q1 2016 results. In the previous quarter, PC was the second most profitable platform for Ubisoft. However, mobile devices have risen and managed to surpass the PC.
PS4 and Xbox One have managed to retain their sales, however the PC dropped from 23% to 17%. That’s a noticeable decrease, however we do have to note that there weren’t many Ubisoft PC titles in Q2 2016.

It would be easily 1st if they treated PC with more care in the past. People do not forget the crap Ubisoft has pulled in the past with draconian DRM, delayed games, unoptimised games and many subpar PC ports. This will haunt them for a long time to come, same with EA and Activision. There is a reason Valve is in such a dominant position with Steam on PC because they have always put PC first.

And nice try with Diablo 3. You do realize that first Diablo was on Playstation as well right? There is no reason for them to lock a game on PC if it is technically possible on Consoles. As it should be. No one should be prevented from playing a great game.
At the end of the day, games like Diablo 3 are inferior on Consoles just like Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike, that receive updates on regular basis while Console community is like a ghost town. I expect dumbed down port of Overwatch on Consoles as well but at the end of the day, it’ll be dead in a week.
Long story short: Consoles are multiplat machines now compared to their glory PS2 days. PC continues to grow and not only gets exclusives and multiplats but also franchises that were one Console exclusive. FACT. In real world people care more about PCs than Consoles. Call me when a Console game becomes national sport of a country or makes more revenue than PC market.

Diablo 3/Minecraft came to Consoles because Blizzard/Notch are greedy money-grubbing whores, no other reason. D3/MC PC actually sold extremely well, netting Blizzard/Notch quite the profit. It is ONLY BECAUSE of these absurdly good PC sales that they started talking about a Diablo/Minecraft Console Port.
You don’t really think if either of those Titles had sold badly they’d have still bothered to port it to Consoles, instead of just letting it die, do you?

Interesting and unusual findings. I could predict the PC would come before or after the consoles, but slap-bang in the middle is something I didn’t see coming.
I haven’t bought an Ubi game since Far Cry 3 and won’t be buying any others for the foreseeable future.
sorry to hear that i know people love to hate them with good reason but i actually love their far cry series i’d much rather have a buggy mess at first then a game that requires you to be online just to freaking play

Splinter Cell Blacklist was my last game. And it seems like it’ll be my last Splinter Cell too. The series that I loved is gone. It’s now a generic action movie featuring super hero.
It’s pretty clear you didn’t play Blacklist. You’d have quit a long time before that then, since Blacklist brought it much closer to it’s roots then it’s been in a while.
you can litteraly count the cameras in that game in one hand. I liked how you level up and unlock stuff like radar and better equipment but the missions in that game were pathetic linear shooting corridors.

PC is just doing OK for now but it’s slowly becoming irrelevant as it’s losing all it’s exclusives and have no own exclusives except MOBA. Even RTS is slowly dying and Turn-Based strategy all heading towards consoles.. Overwatch is heading towards consoles as well, Divinity Original Sins and a whole lot more. PC will become irrelevant platform and the new masterrace title belongs to “consoles”. Pls note i’m not pro-consoles. I’m just stating the obvious. I’m a PC gamer.
