NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 can run Overwatch 2 with over 500fps at 1440p

Activision has released Overwatch 2 on PC and NVIDIA shared a graph, showcasing the performance of its upcoming 40 series graphics cards. According to the graph, the high-end model, the RTX 4090, can run the game with over 500fps at 1440p.

Going into more details, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12GB can run the game with 296fps. That’s 50fps higher than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. On the other hand, the 16GB model can run the game with 368fps. That’s 70fps higher than the 12GB. And, as said, the RTX 4090 can offer more than 500fps.

Overwatch 2 is free to play and you can download it from Battlenet. As we’ve already reported, Battlenet will now require your phone number for security purposes. Additionally, the game appears to have grinding issues (I mean, it’s a free-to-play game so that’s to be expected).

Lastly, you can download NVIDIA’s optimized drivers from here!

  1. A light game to run, running in 1080p (4K DLSS Performance) + interpolation: 500 fps, on the fastest GPU.

    Big whoop.

    1. The game doesn’t have DLSS support so they are running it at 1440p native. With that said, visually it looks like a cartoony PS3 game at best, with hardly any destruction or environmental physics so achieving 500fps in this isn’t really be something to gloat about.

Also, it would’ve been nice to see 1% and 0.1% lows as those are much more crucial to a smooth stutter-free experience.

      1. It doesn’t matter how bad this game looks, all what matters is relative performance compared to Ampere GPUs. 4090 is over 2x faster than 3080 even in this standard game (without RT or DLSS) and that’s very impressive.

Many people including myself still use Pascal GPUs and I’m blow away seeing such insane performance. This thing is over 5x times faster than 1080ti (80-90fps vs 500 fps).

    1. Right, it is 2 years older than the 3080, has less cuda cores and hardly beats out the much older cheaper and lower clocked. Sad times.

    2. Everybody knows it’s RTX4070 in disguise but there’s nothing we can do about it. Performance is impressive though, even in standard game without RT or DLSS this thing is clearly way faster than RTX3070 and even RTX3080 and from now on most games will use RT and probably DLSSx3, so the performance gap will be only bigger. But 899$ for a GPU is a little bit too much for me, 700$ is a magic barier for me (in the past I have paid 700$ for my old 1080ti and I’m not willing to pay more).

  2. So what I notice is that a 2 year old 699 3080 gets half the performance of the 1599 brand new top tier…. doesn’t sound so top tier.

  3. Not exactly a good selling point, Overwatch runs on a potato pc.
Let’s see Red Dead Redemption 2 or Cyperpunk 2077 Ultra settings.

  4. NVIDIA: These new graphics cards are so much faster look at our graphs!
people: can we get independent reviews before launch so we know what the hell we are buying?
    NVIDIA: No. LOL.
