NFS fans, here is something for you today. YouTube’s ‘2Unreal5Underground’ has released a demo for an upcoming fan remake of Need for Speed: Underground 2 in Unreal Engine 5.
NostalgiaNexus has also released a video for a fan remake of NFS: Most Wanted in UE5. Contrary to the NFSU 2 remake, though, we don’t have a playable demo for it yet. Still, we might get one in the future. And if we do, we’ll make sure to share it.
Since this is a fan remake, created mainly by one guy, I suggest tempering your expectations. This will NOT look as good as a next-gen NFS game in Unreal Engine 5.
So, with that in mind, this fan remake is pretty amazing. The remake has nailed the driving mechanics and the camera movement. The car slides the way it should, and that’s a big plus in my opinion. Plus, the remake has the original car sounds (again, this is a great thing IMO).
You can go ahead and download the demo from this link. Below you can also find a gameplay video from it. So, make sure to at least watch it.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 or this free Attack on Titan game. And then we have the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake in UE5.
Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these two tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

If they got the driving mechanics and feeling, I'm very impressed.
They're not remakes. They're just dead end/leading to absolutely nowhere UE5 fun little projects from people, John. Stop being so obsessed with them and calling them remakes.
This – Sadly – 👍
They've been working on this one for a couple of years now (this is not the official YouTube channel for it) and it's a complete port to UE5, but not everything will receive an overhaul, so I wouldn't call it a remake, just a port to a modern engine with better lighting, road textures, etc. They'll do the full campaign and plan to have online functionality.
People are gullible, and there's been several of these. I don't get why John is just now seeing one of them.
He's trolling everyone. He's been doing this for a couple of years now and laughing about it. It's all in fun though. Before this it was the nude mods.
7500th Unreal demo that will remain a demo forever
i dont even check these articles anymore.
Discord required: NO THANKS.
Besides, there's already a very nice RTX mod in progress, which looks better than that.
Look up "Need for Speed: Underground 2: RTX Remix Remaster Gameplay (4K 60FPS)" on Youtube.
This UE5 port of NFSU2 is not done by NostalgiaNexus, they only released a video showcasing it like any other YT channel can.
This port is done by apfelbaum and some other guy, and the official YT channel is called 2Unreal5Underground.
Yeah, my bad. I've fixed the article.
Stop being so emotionally-driven by these "fan remakes", John. These are simply fun projects leading to nowhere
Modders, doing what multi billion dollar corporations wont do because said corporations are run by a**holes who never gamed a day in their life.
Why do I recall the original looking exactly like this
quick question, how is it any different from the OG underground 2?
