Playstack has announced that its upcoming Souls-like game, Mortal Shell 2, will be released on August 20. To celebrate this announcement, the publisher shared a new trailer that you can find below.
Mortal Shell 2 promises to take everything from the first game and make it even better. The combat is faster and more intense, and weapons have more upgrade choices. Plus, players can explore the world freely without limits.
This action-RPG lets you explore a detailed open world that’s both big and tightly designed. The world is full of strange places and hidden secrets, but it’s made so you don’t waste time getting lost or bored.
Mortal Shell II’s open world is small but full of twists and turns. Dangerous enemies guard the paths, but if you explore, you’ll find new parts of the story, powerful weapons, strange items, upgrades, and new Shells to use. Exploring will be risky, but it will be worth it.
Players will travel through broken-down temples of old gods, dark and dangerous forests, and frozen graveyards. You’ll also explore castles made from bone. Along the way, you’ll find over 60 dungeons. Each one will test your skills and weapons, pushing you to get better as you go.
Mortal Shell 2’s combat will feel fast but controlled. There’s no stamina bar, so players can fight more freely and use different tactics to break an enemy’s defense and land powerful hits. Each Shell has its own special abilities. As you play, you can create your own fighting style and unlock hidden powers by finding lost memories.
You can still download and play the game’s Open Beta Demo. However, the devs have not shared any detailed PC system requirements for it. Right now, we only have the minimum PC system specs, which we can share below.
So, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i7-10700K or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or an AMD Radeon RX 6600. The devs also recommend using an SSD.
Mortal Shell 2 uses Unreal Engine 5, and its Open Beta ran with high framerates, even at Native 4K on an NVIDIA RTX 5090. For the most part, I was getting over 90FPS at Native 4K/Very High Settings.
Sadly, the Open Beta had some traversal stutters. They were not annoying, but most of you will immediately notice them. It’s a shame, really, because without those stutters, this UE5 game would feel really silky smooth. I should also note that the Ray Tracing setting appeared to be broken. The game looked and performed the same whether Ray Tracing was turned On or Off. So, let’s hope that the final build will have proper support for Ray Tracing.
Stay tuned for more!
