STALKER 2 new screenshots-3

STALKER 2 Patch 2.0 Performance Benchmarks Surface Online

The highly anticipated Title Update 2.0 for STALKER 2 will be released tomorrow, and the first performance benchmarks for it have appeared online. So, let’s take a look at them, shall we?

Right now, we have two performance videos, though I suspect more will appear soon.

The first video comes from MxBenchmarkPC. MxBenchmarkPC used an Intel Core i7 14700F with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 to test the new patch. And, according to its benchmarks, Patch 2.0 boost performance by around 10-20FPS.

MxBenchmarkPC also revealed the UE5 version that the game now uses. From the looks of it, STALKER 2 now uses Unreal Engine 5.5. It’s not using Unreal Engine 5.6 or 5.8.

The second video comes from Cheeki Breeki. In less populated areas, the performance gains appear to be around 10FPS. However, in big areas where there are a lot of NPCs, the performance gains are around 20FPS. This falls in line with the results from MxBenchmarkPC.

What this ultimately means is that Patch 2.0 will not be a placebo performance patch. It will increase your in-game performance. However, it won’t magically allow you to play STALKER 2 on a potato PC. So, be sure to keep your expectations in check.

It’s also worth noting that Patch 2.0 brings some visual and lighting changes. The world appears to be more saturated than before. This is something that may disappoint some fans of the launch version. On the other hand, we can also see some major visual improvements in shadow-y areas.

Finally, it appears that the game still has some stutters. From what I’ve seen, they are not as bad as those we had in the launch version. Still, you should not expect a stutter-free experience. I don’t know if an upgrade to UE5.8 would do the trick. The demo for The Sinking City 2, which used UE5.7, also had some stutters, but its final version, which is on UE5.8, does not have any.

For what it’s worth, I won’t test this patch on my PC. Right now, I’m busy with newer titles that are coming out. As such, I’ll be focusing on them. Still, these early benchmarks should give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it.

Enjoy!
