In case you weren’t aware of, Doom Eternal does not feature the classic pistol from the Doom series. Instead, the first weapon that players get their hands on is the shotgun. However, it appears that PC gamers can unlock and get the pistol via CheatEngine.
In order to unlock the pistol in Doom Eternal, you’ll need to download first the CheatEngine for Doom Eternal from here. Then, you’ll have to run it and enable “Unrestrict Console Commands/Cvars & Bind”. Once you’ve done that, start the game, open the console via “~” and type “g_enablePistol 1”. And that’s it.
From what we can see, id Software has already added custom animations and sounds to the pistol. According to reports, the team decided to remove it because it didn’t fit the game’s new combat style. Still, it’s really cool that there is a way to enable/unlock it.
In other news, Bethesda has announced that Doom Eternal has quickly broken the franchise record for opening weekend sales, doubling the launch revenue of Doom 2016.
