NVIDIA has announced that Square Enix will release a new update for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that will add support for DLSS 4. This update will bring the full DLSS 4 suite to FF7 Rebirth. In other words, you’ll be able to use the DLSS 4 Transformer Model, as well as Multi-Frame Gen.
FF7 Rebirth came out in January 2025. This means that it took the devs almost ten months to add support for DLSS 4. At launch, the game supported DLSS 3, without any support for Frame Gen.
As I wrote in an older article, the game can run with high framerates on PC, even at native resolutions. At Native 4K/Max Settings, an RTX 5090 can push a minimum of 98FPS. But now, with DLSS 4, NVIDIA owners will get a much better image with either DLSS 4 Quality Mode or DLAA. Moreover, they can use Frame Gen to hit a constant 120FPS gaming experience, even on less powerful GPUs.
Speaking of FF7 Rebirth, I also suggest FF7RebirthFix. This mod lets you adjust the gameplay FOV, unlocks the framerate, and adds support for ultrawide or narrower displays. Its latest version also improves shadow cascades. Thus, you won’t see shadows constantly changing right in front of you.
In February 2025, we also shared a must-have 4K Texture Pack for it. This pack overhauls over 3900 textures. And trust me, the game desperately needed a 4K Mod as a lot of the vanilla textures looked bad.
Then we have this amazing first-person mod. This is another must-have mod for FF7 Rebirth. This mod lets you explore the world of the game in first-person mode. During fights, it switches back to a third-person viewpoint. As such, it feels like an official first-person exploration mode. It’s really cool, so be sure to download it from here.
Finally, you can read our PC Performance Analysis for this game. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth feels a bit better than FF7 Remake. While it also suffers from shader compilation stutters, it doesn’t appear to have any major traversal stutters. It also plays great with KB&M during exploration and fights. However, some of the mini-games are unplayable with it.
Square Enix will release the DLSS 4 Update for FF7 Rebirth later today!
UPDATE:
NVIDIA has informed us that they have removed, for now, support for DLSS 4 Transformer Model. There is no ETA on when they will re-enable it. You can still use DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen.
