AMD FSR 3.0 feature

You can now enable AMD FSR 3.0 in all PC games that support DLSS 3

Now here is something for everyone who wanted to try AMD’s FSR 3.0 Frame Generation. Modder ‘Nukem9’ has shared a mod that replaces NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation with AMD FSR 3.0 FG. And, what’s amazing here is that this mod works in all the games that currently support DLSS 3.

So, you can basically use this mod in order to enable FSR 3.0 in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Layers of Fear, The Talos Principle 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Starfield, Alan Wake 2 and more.

Do note that this mod is not as good as a native FSR 3.0 implementation. For instance, in Cyberpunk 2077, there are noticeable ghosting issues. Still, it can allow all PC gamers to use Frame Generation to further boost their gaming performance.

I’m also curious to see what will the people who were criticizing DLSS 3 do. Will they still cry about “fake frames“? Or will they give AMD FSR 3.0 a go? Will they suddenly like those “fake” frames now that they can use the tech?

Anyway, as we’ve already reported, Cyberpunk 2077 and Starfield will soon receive official support for AMD FSR 3.0.

You can download this DLSS 3 to FSR 3.0 Mod from this link. Do note that you must enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows for this to work.

Finally, I really hope that the upcoming dedicated AMD FSR 3.0 Mods will be better than this universal solution. Otherwise, there is now no point in releasing dedicated FSR 3.0 mods for the games that already support DLSS 3.

Speaking of AMD FSR 3.0, yesterday we shared mods that enable AMD’s frame generation solution in The Last of Us Part I & Dead Space Remake. So, go ahead and try them if you haven’t already.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

      1. On the input delay front, there is a little delay but nothing big.
and importantly Frames didn’t give me a feeling of fake to me.
But there is ghosting with flying papers/dust

    1. i’m a monkey, pls how do you install the mod? Frame gen option is still greyed out EDIT: just did it riva tuner bugs this mod sometimes

    1. Can’t tell if this is rhetorical, you expect us to know why you WOULD or WOULDN’T do it given some unannounced set of criteria you’ve imposed but not shared so that you can snarkily reply to someone that comments, or just didn’t read the article.

  1. Input and network is linked to real framerate, and DLSS 3.0 / FSR 3.0 cause both input lag and network lag by delaying real frames.

Each real frame consits of a render pass. But it also includes checking for events like input and net code. It’s a fully sequential ordered string of actions, game engines are nothing more than code on an endless sequential loop, where only the rendering and occlusion code done on the GPU is parallelized.

That’s why games do not scale well on multicore CPU, one event has to wait for another. And framerate determines how many times each second these events happen. That’s why a lot of weird stuff starts happening if you push locked 60fps games beyond 60fps.

When you add these “fake frames” from DLSS3.0 or FSR3.0, you are delaying that loop. By delaying the latest frame to do the interpolation, you create half a frame of both input lag and network lag.

DLSS 3.0 / FSR 3.0 frame gen, which has nothing to do with DLSS 2.0 upscaling, and should have been called something else, is a terrible technique due to the extra lag. Both techniques suck.

    1. “in theory”, you could completely separate input from rendering. Instead of buffering input events until the next real frame, you could allow these fake frames to include some kind of basic motion vector based on input.

But that would be complex, developers do not want this complexity. Research has shown people can not multitask, There was never a reason to poll for input more than once between frames, it just gets sent into the buffer until it is needed for the next render pass. So DLSS3.0 and FSR3.0 will continue to have input lag and will continue to suck.

  2. Lol mmkay jonny nah I don’t need it for 77 or most games really, people just don’t know how to adjust to their cards real capabilities and most people complain most about frame drops and such well this tech isn’t going to help that during high speed action, they always show us some slow moving stuff for a reason.

I mean sure if the card I have can barely run anything but who has a card from 2xxx up that can’t run decent settings at 1080p. Sure you’re trying to run way over your cards limits this could help but how sad is it that cards can STILL only do 1080p but “upscale” to 4k using dlss2 then for high fps need dlss3? did nvidia do any heavy lifting after Pascal? idk seems like tricks used.

Here’s a trick, have an algo in there for FPS counters that simply locks the game to 30/45/60 and SAYS the game is at 150fps? It’s smooth right? Like that natural mountain spring water that really comes from the hose out back lol

  3. They’re still fake frames silly head. Stop trying to gin up a fight with irrelevant bits in the article. Frame generation is part of the equation like it or not…but it doesn’t have to be devisive.

    1. Nah this isn’t valid, just read the video’s info which I’ll include the most important bit btw THIS VIDEO IS CLICK BAIT.

“WIP there is a bug/misstep in the comparison.. the FG off footage was captured without any upscaling applied, therefore the FG OFF numbers are actually lower than what they should be. This came to light after the video got published and I’m afraid this does make the comparison not so valid. I’ll make an updated video on this as soon as possible.

  4. FSR3 FG working on polaris
find “FSR3 Frame Generation mod tested in Cyberpunk 2077 FT. RX 570 4GB” on yt

  5. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I KEPT SAYING…Ngreedia with their BS solution stating non-40xx cards don’t have enough Tensor cores to handle DLSS frame generation. Props to AMD for an “open” solution once again!
I have a 3090TI, and i’m sure will benefit greatly from this!

  6. This is really interesting, You’re a very skilled blogger. I’ve joined your feed and look forward to seeking more of your magnificent post. Also, I’ve shared your site in my social networks!
