Unreal RTX Remix Mod Screenshots-2

Unreal RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod Fully Released

In August 2025, we informed you about a demo for the RTX Remix Mod for the first Unreal game. And today, I’m happy to report that the full version of this mod has been released. With this new version, you can play the entire single-player campaign with Path Tracing.

Created by mstewart401, this mod adds real-time Path Tracing to the classic Unreal game. It includes fully ray-traced lighting, dynamic shadows, and amazing emisive effects. It also adds PBR materials. As such, surfaces will now react to light more realistically with better metals, roughness, and depth. Some world objects and props have also been replaced to make the game look even more detailed and modern.

What’s also great here is that you don’t even have to buy the game. Since Epic made Unreal freeware, you can simply download it from GitHub. Then, you can apply the mod, and you will be good to go. Without paying a single dollar, you can enjoy a modern remaster of this classic Unreal game.

You can download the full game from this link. Then, you have to download and install the Unreal 227k_12 Patch from this link. Finally, you can download and install the RTX Remix Mod from this link.

I’ve also included below some screenshots, shared by NVIDIA’s JacobF. These shots will give you an idea of what you can expect from it. From what I’ve seen, these screenshots look WAY BETTER than those we shared in August.

If you are a big Unreal fan and you have the appropriate hardware, I highly recommend trying it. Now, can anyone create an RTX Remix Mod for Doom 3?

These past few months, we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods. So, you can find mods for Black MesaStar Wars Republic CommandoNFS: Underground, and Manhunt. You can also find some for BioShockMorrowindNFS: Underground 2Star Wars Jedi OutcastMax PayneUnreal, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.

In January 2024, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2,  Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most WantedTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, and Midnight Club 2. Be sure to also check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New VegasTom Clancy’s Splinter CellCOD 2, and Half-Life.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus ExTomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for Painkiller and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and don’t forget to try this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Lastly, you can download these amazing Path Tracing Mods for DoomDoom 2Quake, and Serious Sam.

Enjoy the following screenshots and stay tuned for more!

  1. F*kN Awesome 👊 😁
One of the absolut first Pc games I played. This is a must. Oh and man do I wish the same treatment on the superf*kN duper game "Undying" from Clive Barker. Let it happen 🎺

  2. Good that at least even amid the chaos, they had a fantastic cleaning department that kept the floors and walls waxed pristine.

Translation: haven't you learnt to do the PBR specular map properly yet, for f*cks sake?! Aren't you seeing the sh*tty results in front of you?! Tone it the f*ck down for f*cks sake, it's a simple edit! Yes, I'm really p*ssed.

  3. The OldUnreal website hosts only an installer.
The whole game is on MyAbandonware and Archive.org.
Sadly, any of the Unreal games are not anymore on GOG, but you can find them on gog-games.

    1. Epic should respect themselves enough to have all the old Unreal games on the Epic Store for free, especially these days that they're paying and bleeding through the nose to give away all the games they do weekly, and reckoning that they wouldn't take player counts away from other games.

  4. The original game came on 1 CD and you want me to download a nearly 50GB extension to have fuzzy blur on every light source?

  5. bro wtf is this crap? I say this as someone who loves the 2004-2005 everything shinny aesthetic. If everything is reflective then nothing feels real.

    1. we don't normally agree on things but on this I completely do agree! It makes it look like every other generic shooter. OG Unreal had style!

  6. Words cannot describe HOW BAD this looks! who in their right mind thinks this is great?!! Don't get me wrong, I love RTX in old games if done right…this doesn't look right at all!
I have unreal with the extreme textures + normals + DX11 + Reshade RTGI that looks a lot better than this…

  7. I'm close to 5 hours in on a new campaign playthrough. I do really like to commend the modder here – there is a lot of hard work put into this project (without any pay I might add), and the end result is fantastic in terms of the high res textures and PBR materials used. Yes, this game, unfortunately doesn't look as good with full RT path-tracing as Manhunt did, due to the fact that this is a "dark" game with a lot of interior areas. The outdoor areas in the daytime do look good though, especially with the new grass textures. All in all, I'm still having a blast replaying this classic shooter and I'm really sad that they don't make many games like this anymore. There's no excessive dialogue and cutscenes (you have to piece the story together yourself after reading all the PDA logs), no map, no objective markers, and it's just a seamless movement from one area to the next without massively long loading screens. I wish we could get more games like this – old school is the best!
