Thief 2014 got an HD Texture Pack that overhauls 3,438 textures

Modder ‘FartPluser’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Thief 2014. This mod uses AI techniques to upscale and enhance around 3,438 textures. As such, it’s a must-have for everyone who wants to replay it.

Going into more details, the mod includes two separate mods. The first one is the HD Textures Pack. The second is the HD Grass Mod. This mod enhances the textures for leaves and select grass scatter assets. You can use both of them, and I highly recommend doing so.

Sadly, the modder did not provide a lot of comparison screenshots. We have one in which you can clearly spot the improved textures.

It’s also worth noting that the mod is only 4GB in size. As such, you won’t have to download a big pack like those we’ve shared for other titles. It should also work even on GPUs with 8GB of VRAM.

You can go ahead and download the mod from this link. Make sure to also read its installation guide. From what I can see, you need to follow specific steps.

You can also find AI-enhanced texture packs for many more games, like Far Cry 3The Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeBlood 2Dark Souls 2FEAR, and Batman: Arkham Asylum have also received their own. And then we have those for Resident Evil: RevelationsRevelations 2Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30Resident Evil 7, and Tomb Raider: Legend. Let’s also not forget this one for Palworld.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Thief 2014 is free for Amazon Prime subscribers right now. Sadly, I have come to terms with stealth games not being for me.

    1. No need. Just download the Dark Mod + ALL maps + TDM Modpack.
You'll have the best Thief experience ever, even better than Thief 2.

      1. The black parade mod for Thief 1 spoiled me, how can i encounter another stealth game with such high quality? Played some levels in Thief 3 and it looks so amateurish lol, at least the ragdolls are funny to mess around.

      1. It's definitely not as abysmal as what people say though.
When I played it, I expected such a massive turd judging from the reviews that I was actually pleasantly surprised.
But yes, it doesn't even come close to Thief 1-2 or the Dark Mod.
I would give it a 6/10 at best.

          1. Human Revolution is of the same quality, i could only stomach it for a single playthrough.

        1. The reviews were because compared to the previous 3 games, or more importantly the first 2, T4 failed abysmally on so many counts.
          – Not having Stephen Russel as Garrett – this was a massive fail.
          – no level editor – even T3 has a bloody level editor, and fans have been trying to fix the sh1tty movement mechanics.
          – poor level design from a climbing, jumping, accessibility pov, sh!te level load animations that were often and frequent – not being to drop down from a simple ledge feet off the ground was easily one of the most annoying mechanics, even T3 did do this.
          – poor story and story pacing.
          – was way too short.

I could go on, but I will end by saying if you want a game with comparable gfx to T3/4 but with the mechanics of t1/2 then go lookup The Darkmod (www.thedarkmod.com)

  2. DON'T…!
I see the Thief name and i get a heart attack!

Yeah, idk who will care about this for this game, and it doesn't even make that much of a difference to bother…

  3. One would expect that with Raytracing now being more broadly adopted and used, Thief would be amongst the games that would be released/rebooted using it since it makes way more sense than other games that are "shinning away" with no reason.

  4. Picked this one on Epic giveaway but i'm yet to try it out. The black parade mod for Thief 1 spoiled me, how can i encounter another stealth game with such high quality? Played some levels in Thief 3 and it looks so amateurish lol, at least the ragdolls are funny to mess around.

  5. It should work with 4 GB of VRAM since it is a 32 bit game and can't really handle more

I guess I'm going to find out because the Definitive Edition is available via GOG on Prime Gaming for free
